dan106
Ever since I've had my gt the steering just hasn't felt right, like driving in a straight line I always have to constantly adjust, and it just feels loose and crappy tbh! Anyone had this before and know what the problem is? Before I go spending loads of money trouble shooting lolCheers
StuDoc 72
Mine was always sorta like this. Maybe not as bad as you are describing but still had the feeling all the same. Think it might be the ball joints.
5e colin
wheelbearings / balljoints / wishbone bushes / inner, outer ty rods / rak / cullum knuckel and play in shock topmounts al affect steering feel
dan106
Yeah I'm tying to avoid changing all that aha! Was just hoping they'd be like a common thing on starlets that does it, spose I'll start with the cheaper bits then lol Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
morgey
Have you had the alignment done or checked? But yeah as above really, balljoints and trackrods 1st then work your way inwards lol
dan106
Yeah it's been done 4 times since I've had the car aha! Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

dan106
I am having a weird knock/clonk ATM so I'm wondering if it's all related, did you do the front and rear bushes on the lower arms? Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
Starlet__SR
Check the condition of the bushes and other components, have the tracking checked. You want to be aiming for 0.5-1 degree toe in. If it's set at zero or toeing out it will give that flighty feeling.
dan106
It's been tracked very recently, I'll have to try find the print out Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
Starlet__SR
Only other thing is worn suspension.
dan106
It's got brand new bcs on it so it's not those aha, it was tracked wrong in the past, 30 minutes of toe out both sides, it was constantly trying to anywhere but straight, but it's been done twice since then and it'll be getting done again soon once I've got the camber sorted Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

If the camber isn't set that won't help matters either

adzy
I had a clunk noise when starting to accelerate and it turned out to be the rear wish bone bush
dan106
Yeah I get it when accelerating or decelerating, or sometimes when I steer, looks like some polybushes and an alk are on my list lol Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
dan106
Also, while I'm at it I may aswell replace the drop links, where's best for some polybushed ones?
Ollieh17
I bought saab 9-3 droplinks. £6 for a set of two. Starlet ones are 3-4 times as much.
