Legend009
Can the 5e pistons be used on a 4efte engine??? If yes what are the consequences??
SpikeyJp_68
They're higher compression so you'd have to run lower boost
SpikeyJp_68
Found this on ausstarletclub from androo26. You can see the different comp. ratios
Legend009
Okay thanks man. Il have to start lookin for the pistons
richardc9052
You would be looking at an approx comp ratio of 8.9:1 with 5efhe pistons or 8.5:1 with 5efe pistons
5e colin
you can boost safe 10 psi or so no bother mabie more if you get a pro map i boosted a gi block with mk1 4efe pistons at a bar ( there the highest dome pistons for our engines )
MR-2
You can do 4E-FTE pistons from 5E pistons, budget tuning. I have machined those and ceramic coated those. Basically factory do one piston mold and they machine pistons for every motor. Can take picture later about my pistons...
Legend009
So the 4efe pistons can give boost of 1 bar? Thats the mk1
5e colin
it can yes ( gen1 ) but its extreme it's a ticking time bomb that could go any sec ( mine lasted 6 months i think it was ) before piston swap if you want longevity then do 10/11psi
Legend009
Okay. Leme way the options first and see wat i get here
richardc9052
If your gonna go the way of using oem pistons go 4efte. If you must use n.a pistons go for 5efe as they will give the lowest compression of the lot.
gorganl2000
sorry for the late drop in...but i'll add my two centsi've personally been involved in running 5efhe pistons in a 4efte with gt rods----stock build....it was an experiment at first as we had no idea what would happen and how reliable it would be .....it turned out to be very reliable and quite responsive off boost too this car ran a td04L with emu and was tuned to run 18/20psi on pump gas....ran well for a long time it can be done....it just needs to be tuned properly---fuel AND ignition (using some sort of detonation listening device)
Legend009
That sounds nice. Leme try spurce them out and give it a try. Will update once i get the parts Thanks for the knowledge guys.
