SpikeyJp_68
Read a few bits about this before but never got a definitive answer. Is a FTE crank pulley 100% needed on a turbo engine ? I know the FTE ones are harmonically balanced but what happens if I stick with the FE one ?
Starlet__SR
Mixed opinions on this. Me personally would stick with the FTE pulley as it's dampened. Have a read of this http://www.atiracing.com/products/dampers/damper_dinan.htm
gorganl2000
i've used the 4efe crank on both a 4efte and 5efte with no problems over a number of years Edited November 27, 2016 by gorganl2000

Have a read of this http://www.atiracing.com/products/dampers/damper_dinan.htmDampened that's what I was looking for. Read through that, sounds a bit worrying but just heard of people doing it before with no problems i've used the 4efe crank on both a 4efte and 5efte with no problems over a number of yearsWell that's good to hear. Would save me getting and replacing it with an FTE one
SpikeyJp_68
This is my 4efe one. Looks to be dampened judging by the rubber piece ?
Rob H@RCH Engineering
4efe ones are dampened too, I run one on mine with no issues at all.

gorganl2000
plus it seems like a few persons have added turbos to their n/a 4efe---maybe some run the engine as is with the 4efe crank pulley

A bit off topic here, but I take it the advantages are minimal of running a lighter (4efe) pulley as compared to the heavier (4efte) pulley ?
Rob H@RCH Engineering
You would not see any gains no, but the thing I like is because I'm running electric power steering I could remove the outer part of the pully as I dont need it 👍😀 You would not see any gains no, but the thing I like is because I'm running electric power steering I could remove the outer part of the pully as I dont need it 👍😀
5e colin
The Na pulley is like 400grams lighter this with a lighter flywheel will make it rev faster, then onto of that do robs pws delete you will notice instantly howmuch faster the revs climbe

SpikeyJp_68
Off topic again I know but how is it with no power steering ? Better control ? Just don't like thinking of parking
Rob H@RCH Engineering
I still have power steering but an electric pump not the one on the engine!
