Mxdsnny
6 speed on a n/a has it been done? Is it worth doing? Do you need a different clutch? Is there a code on the side of the box to tell if it’s a six speed n not a five? Help would be appreciated. Thanks Dan

Thanks Dan toyota did poorly with labeling the gearboxes. but the 6 speed is easy to spot when you look at the end cap that covers 5th and 6th gears, its shaped different to the 5 speeds there and longer. Ollie batey
Anyone know where I can get my hands on a 6 speed for my starlet?
morgey
Corolla g6 with the 4efe 1.3 is a direct bolt on. The 4afe box can be used but need to swap bell housings.
funny onion
I think the corolla 6 speed box is a C152 box? They are a direct bolt on, don't need to swap the clutch etc. Only think that needs modifying is the shifter in the car. I had to file down the inside of the plastic housing to allow the shifter room to select reverse (next to first on these boxes)
maddox710
Pretty sure the Gbox code for the 6spd is c160 and a c161 The c152 was a varient of the 5spd

Sudden
kinda jelous, the g6 box doesnt exist in my market, and 6 speeds in general are like diamonds here. one of those would polish my build off nicely.
maddox710
C161 final drive 4.529 1st 2nd 3rd 4th 5th 6th 3.166 1.904 1.233 0.969 0.815 0.628 C56 final drive 4.312 1st 2nd 3rd 4th 5th 3.166 1.904 1.392 1.031 0.815 Both use the same reverse by the looks of it 3.250 C161 is what we in the UK are most likely to find out the corolla g6 The levin ae111 uses the C160 I believe has a shorter 2nd-5th gears And I've just compared it against the most common glanza Gbox (C56) Hope this helps
gorganl2000
are you sure about that final drive for the glanza ep91 c56? as far as i have investigated, the ep91 glanza has a 3.722 final drive c56 however, the levin c56 seems to have the 4.312 final drive you noted above may be someone can clarify
maddox710
I know the early gt box (c52) were long legged But maybe someone could clear this up
gorganl2000
gt box and glanza box ...same final drive 3.722 however, glanza box has slightly shorter (reportedly also weaker) 3rd and 4th gears that's what i've always been told http://www.toyotagtturbo.com/community/index.php?threads/gear-ratio-comparison-list.26329/ Edited December 7, 2017 by gorganl2000 updated with link
