Bean
it just some silver/aluminium vht paint, i think i got it from halfords. it said on the can up to 500 degrees but its doing ok so far. i havnt really drove the car far yet but its not peeled off. it looks quite a good finish but i scratched it a little when i fitted it to the car with the turbo and downpipe all bolted on looks orite still though. vanmar
very nice build i like the way everything flowed all good, i like the way you got motivated all the time to continue working on the car. I have a problem with my car the dip stick housing jumped out the engine area where its suppose to be in the oil pan, i dont know what caused it didn't hear anything , im wondering if its pressure that caused it or is it just a bolt is slack or something it should not happen like that . any has any ideas what might have gone wrong are what happened are if its a easy fix.. model ep91 glanza
Bean
Thanks mate, there were times when i just had enough of it though when it was sat in the garage for a few months. I just had to put another turbo on it yesterday as the oil seals went on the old one. not a bad job really.as for your dip stick, on the end of them there is a little o ring seal that seals them into the block, make sure that is still in place. and there is a little plate on them near the top that i think bolts to the engine near to the alternator, i cant quite remember. make sure thats attached when you fit it back on. The bad part the mechanic that blew the rings didnt tell me because of my lack of knowledge about cars. he was giving me the run around. not only that but oil leaked onto the alternator and damage it, the car broke down on the straights i had to ask a friend to come get me. this is not a good day at all, plus i have to confront the mechanic on what he has done hoping he will accept what he has done and the cost . Bean
i hadnt thought of that Mr Troll actually. hmm. oh well its done now. cheers for the words of encouragment! it helps a little. i thought all the stuff in the sump was just metal from the wrecked bearings and rods ect.Hows your 5e going then dude? i think im going to get one of those 3ete aasco flywheels so i can use my 4efte clutch, im temped to order one of those toga uprated oil pumps since ive had nothing but problems with these engine in this car. Guest Enzo
the oil pump sounds like a safe bet, im wandering what other types of uprated oil pumps are out there for the e series engine
Aga
VERY nice work on all the car! shame about what happened to your new engine. found out what was at fault?
Bean
cheers aga, there were a few things it could have been really. The car is still tucked away in the garage under sheets. im missing it abit now. my mate lets me drive his ep82 from time to time so not too bad. Ive gave the engine bay a really good clean including the chassis legs, steering rack ect. i will get some polish on it before the new engine goes in.in having a bit of a problem choosing a turbo for it. i was going to run a vf35 i have but im not putting a second hand turbo which i haven't ran before on a new engine. so i was thinking of a dual ball bearing td05 16g but im still undecided. see what happens.... im in no rush.Im not taking any chances with anything this time. Just going to plod along slowly with it finishing everything off nicely. Ive got a few jobs i could be getting on with like re wrapping the engine loom. I got lots of little bits that will come in handy for tidying up the bay from the paseo.

Bean
UpdatesSo i sat around for ages not knowing what i was going to do, another forged 4e? a stock 4e? or then i thought about a forged 5e. so i started looking for 5e engine and everyone was wanting stupid money for them. My parents wouldnt let me have 3 cars but the went away for 2 week so in the end i bought thisI drove it about for a week or so going to work and stuff then when i had a day off i set about removing the precious 5e a wilko bucket makes a great axle standand after a few hours.. its out.So the 5e got sent off and my old 4e also.then i started doing a bit of cleaning up on the 85i borrowed a compressor off my uncle and started Stone chipping the archesthen i stripped the front end down and cleaned it all up and painted that too.The day before the forged 4e let go its mot was due and funny enough it failed, one of the fails was the bushes on the rear arb so i got that all removed and got it powder coated and a few other bits too.and a full new set of bushes from Toyota too.then after a bit of a wait and courier problems my 5e came backSo hopefully i will have the 5e in very sooni also got a vf35 rebuilt by turbo dynamics at some point. they were really helpful and it only took them a couple of days

Bean
Arb fitted with all new bushes. i didnt get it fitted on the car as ive been painting the rear axle. Also got a coilover un-seized today and raised it a little on the front as it was a bit too low.
