get it fixed for jae dude then put it away for winter

thats my aim i think mate!

aww really gutted for you, you did say its been playing up for a while. I would have thought a HG repair would only be a few hundred quid though?

yea thats why im not over bothered as i did kind of know somthing was gona happenl i did say it to you bout half hour before we went n track! :( well ive got a spare head in the garage that i could send of but it would need a complete rebuild, so full head rebuild kits are about £155, rough price for skim and rebuild is £150-£200, head bolts and washers £ - (not sure) i reckon a proper job is about £450 and i can get a complete low mileage engine for £600. so for the extra £150 i might aswell have a complete low mile engine i think.

  • 2 weeks later...

well thought id give you guys an update, the car is fine (touch wood - (let the stupid comments begin about that phrase)

i did a full coolant flush last week, ran the car with some rad flush in then drained it all, ran the hose pipe though the engine, took the radiator off and pressure washed the core and got LOADS of gunk out. changed the thermo and re-sealed the housing. so im assuming that the rad must of been partly blocked (as it was second hand when i got it) which was fine for road use but soon as it got on track over heated. which is good news but means i dont have a JAE ticket as wasnt expecting to have the car.:p

fixed the handbrake, it was the cables so the exhaust guys must of heated them and fucked them whilst heating my exhaust, so need to go down and have words as a slight exhaust tweek ended up costing me new handbrake cables and to rear calipers.

and its mot time tomorrow so fingers crossed for that.

so now just gota wait for some1 to sell there jae ticket to me! :D

Waaaaaaaaaaaaaahhhhhhhheeeeeeeeyyyyyyy

Good news mate!

Wicked news buddy :)

Hope you can still make the meet at the end of August aswell

cheers boys, and yes lew me and haylz will be there! :)

DAZ- did u have the water system chemical tested ?????

as mine i think headgasket has early signs been overheating on motorway journey on a propa 1 hour hard blast..

mines been doing this over 6 months now!

no mate never had a sniff test done, did a compression test and everything came back ok.

when you say over heating, is it spitting all its coolant out the overflow?

it could of been any of the things below as i changed/did it all at the same time so dont know but try some of the following

- rad cap

- realy good coolant system flush

- new thermo

- re-sealed thermo housing to

- cleaned all the conections on the coolant temop sensors

going to get a decent water temp guage so i can properly see whats going on.

and another good note, it just passed its MOT :) 3 advisories tho

cv boot had slight wear

slight corrosion on fuel pipes

side to side movement in brake pedal, so will have a look at that 1 this weekend. guessing it will either be a warn bearing or pivot.

and just bought some grooved discs and yellow stuff pads after what i found on sat! will put pics up and show you what i mean when i do them!

oh.. mine is just filling up reserve bottle right upto the top (only on a good motorway blast) so tht abviously means pumping water out from rad

& im running a 1.3 bar blitz rad cap..

ive changed coolant few months ago, think im goin to flush the system etc see wht happens! :)

Thanks mate! :D
