BAZ2CRAZY
Basicaly it took me so long to get the GT on roads... i got bored. If that can make sense. I started spending loads of time learning about drifting and rwd cars etc... plus its being a gay at the minute too.Im currently in two minds, do i stick with my original plans i had well over a year ago and continue to spend money on the GT making it around 180bhp and attend some track days in it.OrStop spending money on it (parts wise) and save for somthing else. Leaving the starlet scene after only a couple months of having the GT on the road.Besides, it handles like a bag of shit at the minute anyway. So if anyone has any tips on how to go about setting up D2's (because of the stupid elongated hub bolt eyelet) then i might actualy get some joy out of it going round corners. Ive taken it to Liam and the guys at HI-Q twice where theyve got a state of the art laser alignment system. Both times the alignment has been perfect, but it just handles wank, all becuase of the elongated eyelet on the coilovers. The first time the coilovers were at different angles (all be it the wheels were at the same angle) and this time the coilovers are right the way out towards the wings-camber wise(again, the wheels were perfectly aligned)I dont know whether im just being a fanny and im being too impatient and not spending enough time on it. Or i really do want somthing else. rant over.MitchP.SJust to make this clear, this was in no way a jab at Liam_D and the guys at HI-Q. Theyve done nothing wrong, ive brought the car to them with the coilovers pre-attatched at the hubs. They then adjusted the camber and tie rods perfectly to manufactures spec's. LukeSR
Front + Rear strut braces + susp set-up properly = corner at
BAZ2CRAZY
Already has a front strut brace. I took a corner questionably possibly 20mph faster than your given 50mph on a private road today quite easily. But you have to fight it round the corner. Its asif it doesnt want to turn. Ive just figured it out... theres a midget in my steering rack. One thing i dont get. It turns right better than left aswell Wtf.Mitch
Craig_N
Rear Anti roll bar is a must dude you will notice a massive difference
BAZ2CRAZY
Dudes. Its handling abnormal, in comparison my old green N/A with its stock springs and suspension with pissy 13" wheels handles better than this...Well... obvs it doesnt, but the steering feels completely different. Stupid coilovers.Mitch
Stulet-GTT
Get rid of the coil over's an get somink else set up...Mine is jus lowered on spring's an it handle's really well, am looking at a rear arb an anti lift kit soon so then it should be even better on the road...Dont give up on it jus yet tho, hope ya get it sorted so you enjoy it again... Scott-EP
Dudes. Stupid coilovers.MitchAre your top mounts on the front of the car the right way around, There was a thing with the Meister coilovers were people wasn't putting them around the right way, And was making the car feel really floaty and wierd when turning ? Probably isn't your problem as you said it turns better left then it does right but it may be worth a look, Just an idea, I don't have D2's myself so no idea if they got similar top mounts to the Meisters
ste91
I know how you feel, giving up with it, getting bored, etc...A couple of months ago it seemed like I wouldn't get anywhere with the CRX and almost considered selling it and getting a 125cc bike, that's how desperate I was lol, now I'm so close to getting it on the road it nearly seems worth the wait.D2's aren't exactly great tbh.The bad handling could be down to something simple like worn bushes. If the bushes are worn then it wont matter how much adjustment and faffing around you do.For me it would all be down to money, what your current spec list is, and what you can afford. A RWD drift machine sounds fun but then you've got the running costs and everything, Starlets are very cheap to run even if you do need to spend a bit of money on parts to make it a decent car. Dan507
Migt be you're time to move on dude, as soon as i can get insured, im going for something along the lines of turbo and RWD SR20DET = Fun Times
string
don't sell. at 180 brake you'll stick it to most cars. safe
BAZ2CRAZY
Thanks for the replys. As for the top mounts i did look when i fitted them and they appeared to be symetrical. Think im going to have another go at getting them set up, then if that goes ok, look at replacing bushes etc.Sr20det maybe, but im really taken by ae86's and 4age's. Considered e36's and volvos but want to get somthing il actually want to drive to work everyday lol. A volvo with a welded diff and cut springs will be shit at 5am.Mitch
Steve GT
IMo if you want to keep it and get it handling good fuck the d2's off and get some decent coilovers. I've got bc racing coilies which are brill and quite cheap. The the best things for handling are a whiteline rear anti roll bar and a whiteline anti-lift kit. there the best 2 mods for handling by far. Then Front strut upgrade (possibly a ID-works strut brace) then a Rear 3 point strut brace. Then if you still want more theres panhard rods, pillar bars, lower arm bars etc and if you really feel on splashing out a Cage.Dont give up though dude keep plowing on
BAZ2CRAZY
I might have a word with enzo....Mitch

BAZ2CRAZY
Cant afford at this point in time... Which is fucking gay... the price of the meisters will rise over 100 pounds as of the 1st :'(.Its as if somthing doesnt want me to have this car. Making everything a life or death decision. Ive had a thought aswell, whether ive forgotten what modifying cars is all about... mindless spending... ending up with some uber parts and have uber cuts on your hands fitting them... then wonder why your skint all the time.... 'but hey... at least my rides sweet.'Mitch

string
power upto 180 200 mate. corner at 30 40. blast down the straights
ste91
power upto 180 200 mate. corner at 30 40. blast down the straights ;)Fuck that. Corner as fast as you dare, push the car right to it's limits.Thrash the shit out of it on the straights. That's how I drove my first Starlet, was so much fun.Calmed down in my second Starlet and thought yeah, been there, done that.I expect I'll do it all over again in the CRX though. Just have to be more careful in that.
string
were you pushin 200brake in your starlets? wikid mate. but mitch said it ain't handling well so i tohught i'd put cornering speed lower so he keeps perserverring with his gt because it looks good and will be a weapon when its sorted. I have a feeling it's something stupid making it handle the way it does.
Liam_D
dude, dont sell up over a little issue. The GT Fooking rocks dude honestly is a nice example. Still cant understand this issue your having either because if there was a problem the alignment system would tell us straight away. Its defiantly a weird one. I reckon the D2s are to blame tbh like you said. Have you had a word with Mike at MM about some new coillies? Had some awesome deals on last time i had a word. Thanks for the props too dude, just a shame we havent fully sorted it out for you
BAZ2CRAZY
Nice one liam. Could you book me in for the 7th? Im going to give it one last shot- gona try get them in the centre of the hubs and higher it a little all round. If it handles shit after then there must be some under lying problems, bushes etc.CheersMitch
Liam_D
Erm, im on holiday till the 16th dude, so i could book you in. But i wont be there and you'll be dealing with Shaun (Lad who did it last time) if thats alrite? Unless you can wait until im back?
