Was browsing Auto Express and stumbled onto a new project by Honda -- The New Honda Civic TypeR-R!! Looks Pretty Cool:

From the AutExpress article and another couple of sites I was reading it's gonna be putting out 260bhp from the same i-Vtech 2.0l unit and will be a more "stripped-out" version for racing, costing about £44'000!?! What you'll get is:

What you get

  • Full-on race bucket seats

  • Alcantara steering wheel

  • Dash mounted start button

  • Tweaked ECU

  • VTEC cut-in reduced from 5,400rpm to 5,100rpm

  • Six speed sequential gearbox

  • Increased steering response

  • Tweaked suspension

    What they take away

  • Stripped out cabin

  • No stereo

  • No Sound Deadening

Dunno if it's worth the money... but it's cool!

Wow £44k is steep

Wouldnt it be better just to buy a Type R and just modify it???

Typee R= £18k put £10k into it and you should have an even better car than that :D

Does look damn sweet though :D

Yeah I think that's the general concensus -- then this would still have a warranty (bloody expensive warranty though!)

And I agree with you Geo! That's what it should have been from the outset!

nice, as sed dump 10k into it and even if it blows up....get it fixed, with that spare 12k...lol

still the absolute dogs though, sort of getting back to what the legendary EK9 was..well not quite

Hmmm, I LOVE the Type-R, but I'm not keen on the R-R. It's like they've let a chav with a limited budget re-design the standard civic.

"Right, I have £50 to pimp this ride out, like, like, so it is", mubbles the chav. "I'll put loadsa bonnet pins, an air scoop on it and a massiff sunstrip, like, like, so it is."

I'm surprised they didn't put bonnet pins on instead of door handles.

The air scoop is really OTT in my opinion. It's not like it's gonna cut it as a pure rally machine so it'll not have much use as a snorkel. It's not like the engine is in the back, so it's not the only way they could get a cold air feed. And it's not like many race tracks are underwater.

And the sunstrip is bound to fail the MOT...

hmmm, never really was a fan of the new civic, and i hate the scoop thingy, but each to thier own oppinion though i guess..

Lol, and about that sunstrip... MY sunstrip is too low :D but we know the guy who does our MOTs.

It's not what you know, it's who you know... :D

260bhp for £44k, which is basicly a type-R with a few aftermarket bits that are probs already widely available for peanuts.

maybe if it was 350bhp and came with a suit case filled with £30k cash in the boot!

65k that I believe and not offered to the public or may just people who want it for racing.

that makes more sense. it'd be a good base for a track car, as it'd save alot of time and effort yourself, sorta like the spec-c scoobs.
