My Forged 5E GlanzaV

Recommended Posts

Finally found the time to put a build thread together so this is the story so far:-

i had been looking for a nice clean glanza to have as a weekend project car. After months of searching and searching i came across a tidy example so had to see it in person after driving 320 miles to have a look and check it over i fell in love with it and had to have it.

it came with a couple of mods:-

Autobahn FMIC

SS Manifold

Decat

HKS Actuator

HKS Silent Hi Power Exhaust

As the rear tyres were bald the guy also gave me a spare set of wheels with tyres :)

The car obviously had its bad points too so once i got it home i purchased some KYB front shocks as the ones on it had started to leak and also purchased some uprated discs with yellowstuff pads. Luckily i have a friend who is a master technician at Toyota who let me bring my car in to Toyota and use one of their ramps to carry out the work  .

Once everything was fitted it was running like an absolute dream! but withing 3 months or so i the car just lost all power and broke down at on the motorway, i managed to tow the car to my friends house and after taking the cylinder head off we soon realised it was fried with hardly any compression and the head was badly warped :(

So i started to look for a decent 4EFTE to do a straight swap, at the time i couldnt find a thing and was getting really frustrated with the time it was taking to get my car back on the road. but whilst i was looking for an engine i came across a low mileage 5E block, crank etc for sale at an absolute steal after consulting my friend at toyota he convinced me to go for the 5E & forge it and he would source the parts needed for it to be installed in my glanza. Once i recieved the block it was taken to toyota to be forged :D a couple of weeks later the work was done and the block was braught back to my house to drop into the bay, as i didnt have a cylinder head i purchased the head off my friend at Toyota's forged GT project.

Once it was in and everything connected it fired up first time like a dream B) now that the car was mechanically sound i had to start gathering parts before mapping.

Below are a few pics of mods i have put on the car:-

Be interesting to see what power you make mate, i also have a 5E which is being forged as we speak and im running a TD05 18G which will also be getting mapped in March :-) what power are you hoping for and how much boost you going to run?

Ive not discussed with ricky what boost to run as yet, i was down there yesterday just to confirm dates. From what ive been told looking 300+ but ill see what it produces on the day and see if theres anything else i can do to get more gains.

Does your wastegate come off the right of the mani go around and sit on the left ?

Yeah, not sure why wepr designed it like that. Ricky at racetech was asking the same question yesterday and we were discussing the possibility of moving it.

  • 2 weeks later...

small update:

had a bit of spare time on my hands this weekend so took my LSD box into work to paint before its installed next week.

i gave it a good clean with the steam cleaner, one coat of primer and two top coats.

i'm really pleased with the result and wasn't expecting it to look as good as it does.
