"The best" is hard to define, since there are so many oils and it really depends on where and how you use the box. Although I say RED LINE 75W90 hypoid gear oil would be good enough for daily/drag/circuit ;)

Red line is good, i used atf to try and help with a slight crunch into 2n gear on cold mornings. but its jut as important to do regular oil changes as it is what oil you use. A gearbox ran on cheap oil but changed regularly will probably last longer than one ran on expensive oil but only changed once a year.

ATF as funny onion says, Thats what was recommended to me by my gear box builder and Quaife also say it is good to use with there diffs, makes for a nice smooth gear box! and as cheap as chips to buy too! A lot of the syncro problems with starlet boxs are caused by the oil they need a good slippy oil that does not drag, most thick oils have a lot of drag which is good from a lubrication point but not so good for the syncros that need to slip freely to work properly.
