low revs, oil light flicker, dim lights

hi guys, having a bit of a problem with the car, sometimes, when i pull up to roundabouts the revs drop real low, and the oil light flickers, steering gets really heavy and the lights go dim

ive tried changing the icv to no avail. any ideas as to what it could be?

Battery?altenator...sound's to me like the engine want's to cut out...

yeah its like it wants to cut out, ive put a newer alternator and battery on, and its still doing it :/

Check ya positive as well and just check all ya earths also make sure ya bat not lose

Yep next to the fuel pressure reg but main one to check is one on the gear box and the slam panel

Yeah there should be an earth near the icv ryan

yeah that ones fine, i was thinking more on the back like the n/a's :/

checked the others too :/ ill take them off and clean them up. ive still got the old home made earthing kit from my last starlet so ill bang that on too while im at it

Is the bolt tight enough on the altenator? plug push in right?

Is the eml light on at all ryan?

no, eml light doesnt come on, just the oil light flickers :/

Also if u got a multi meter to check the alternator charging prop by setting it to volts and put it across the bat and should read roughly 14.5 volts if charging prop

oh and by the way guys, it doesnt always do this, and it sometimes idles at like 1300rpm when warm, it differs all the time (its not an air leak)

Just do the simple checks ATM so they can be eliminated then if still no joy we can look deeper in to things

checked all the earths, made a few new connectors and my own earthing kit up

still doing it :/

spoke to the legend that is chris (nastyrash) and he said hes had this problem with most of the GT's and glanza's hes worked on and it could be the coolant temperature sensor, so gunna see if i can get hold on one asap

There is an earth on your inlet aswell dude. Should run along with the injector plugs and come out on the left hand side as you look at it.

yeah that ones fine, ive added extra earthing aswell

its definitely not earth related

Oil pressure switch/lead going to it?

The only bit i dont realy get is the revs going realy low one min then high the next!!!

its not up and down up and down, its every now and then.

ill try a new coolant temp sensor and see what happens
