daniel_g Posted November 5, 2012 Posted November 5, 2012 In particular the bolts that go through the bracket that is attached to the gearbox. Mine i have shit loads of washers for whatever reason.Anyone know if it will be ok to run like this or what i should do.Cheers Quote
steve-gers Posted November 5, 2012 Posted November 5, 2012 When I changed mine there were no washers so at I guess I would say somebody has used bolts that are too long? Quote
Idrees Posted November 5, 2012 Posted November 5, 2012 I advise using OEM bolts if you have them. We can supply you with them if you need them. CheersIdreesID-Workz Quote
5T4R7ET N/A Posted November 5, 2012 Posted November 5, 2012 looks like a right bodge up. i wouldnt trust that many washers on a mount Quote
daniel_g Posted November 5, 2012 Author Posted November 5, 2012 Yeah i thought as much, major fucking bodge. One of many unfortunately. I'll add new bolts to the long list off essential parts then haha.So the way it is just now the box / engine would be sitting further towards the front of the car than usual yeah ? Quote
_shaun_ Posted November 5, 2012 Posted November 5, 2012 (edited) Mines sitting by the engine bud can have a look tomorrow if u want Edited November 5, 2012 by _shaun_ Quote
morgey Posted November 6, 2012 Posted November 6, 2012 The mount should be mated up against the gearbox, why they have put the washers between the mount and the box is beyond me! Surely if you needed the washer they'd go under the head of the bolt as to not change the position of the engine? Quote
Bluebear Posted November 6, 2012 Posted November 6, 2012 What the tits has been done to that?!Completely wrong mate, the mount needs to be up against the box. Previous owner must have been a bright spark(!) Quote
daniel_g Posted November 6, 2012 Author Posted November 6, 2012 Yeah i'll defo get it sorted before it goes back in, some pikey shit has gone down on this car haha. There is a good inch of washers between the box and mount !!That is the right mount for a GT yeah ? Quote
daniel_g Posted January 6, 2013 Author Posted January 6, 2013 Right ok, i had a bit of time to work on the car today so i decided to put my engine and box back in the bay. Its a different GT box to that one ^ It came with a mount that sits flush to the box with the correct bolts and no pikey washers. Only thing is that is doesn't line up with the mount on the underside of the car.Does anybody have any ideas as to what i can do to get it to line up ?Only thing i can think of is that my car was born with a OEM LSD box and the mount is different ??Any help is appreciated. Dan. Quote
steve-gers Posted January 6, 2013 Posted January 6, 2013 (edited) They can be a bit of a pain to line up tbh mate mine took a lot of rocking the engine on a jack and some pry bar action to get it in. OEM LSD has a completely different shaped rear mount so not one of them. Edited January 6, 2013 by steve-gers Quote
daniel_g Posted January 6, 2013 Author Posted January 6, 2013 I tried everything haha, i took the other mounts off and put the middle one first then the other two were out by miles. Can the middle one be adjusted forward where it bolts to the floor ? There must be a reason why there were washers there in the first place though. Quote
morgey Posted January 6, 2013 Posted January 6, 2013 Get some more pics up dude, are you using the same bracket as the one pictured or did the new box come with the bracket attached? Quote
steve-gers Posted January 6, 2013 Posted January 6, 2013 is it off to the left and right of the car or to the back and front? Quote
klyfax Posted January 6, 2013 Posted January 6, 2013 Maybe an Corolla E engine mount is what you have? Quote
morgey Posted January 6, 2013 Posted January 6, 2013 Maybe an Corolla E engine mount is what you have? This is what i was thinking, could be the mount in the tunnel is the incorrect one? Quote
daniel_g Posted January 6, 2013 Author Posted January 6, 2013 I'm using the bracket that came on the new box, C52 box by the way. Its the same type of bracket as that one pictured ^ but with no washers. I think its something to do with the actual mount under the car. Pics in 2 mins. Quote
morgey Posted January 6, 2013 Posted January 6, 2013 C52 or c56 wouldnt make any difference, the only thing i can think of is the bracket isnt as deep as it needs to be or the one under the car doesn't come out far enough Quote
morgey Posted January 6, 2013 Posted January 6, 2013 (edited) Thats strange. Is that an alloy rear mount? Im sure mines steel! Also it looks to be out side to side not so much back and forward Edited January 6, 2013 by morgey Quote
daniel_g Posted January 6, 2013 Author Posted January 6, 2013 Yeah think is alloy, like the other two on the car. Its out to the left ( when facing the car from the bay ) slightly and out at the back by a fair bit. And even though it looks quite close in the pics it really isnt haha. Quote
morgey Posted January 6, 2013 Posted January 6, 2013 Yea i see i would expect that as i really have to force my engine back to get it too meet the mount. But im pretty sure your rear mount is the issue i know ep91's had steel mounts but not sure about 82's but thought they were interchangable. This might be your issue? Quote
steve-gers Posted January 6, 2013 Posted January 6, 2013 Rear one should be steel as mentioned above. Quote
