anyone ever used honda pistons at 9:1 comp in a 4e and 5e.

Are would i have to be the first mad man to try it jus need to know bout the wrist pin size ohh the piston r 75mm

They might be 9:1 in a honda but thats going off of all there combustion chamber designs, also the height of the piston is a main factor ie center of wrist pin to piston top will differ between manufactures. This will be what dictates the compression ratio!

I supose the stroke might matter aswel as you will need clearance on the skirt of the pistons...

But if they are the same then give it a go be experimental lol

Thanks for the info i would have to get one piston to test. I know comp might be higher due to manufacture differ,but i was askin because i know hondas use vitara pistons an i know a guy that fitted vitara pistons in his 5e (covers eyes)

wrist pin is 19 and 22mm on hondas

its 18mm on e series engines

You don't need to change the pistons you can increase compression by skimming the block/head. The paseo pistons are actually lower compression to the starlet ones so if you put starlet pistons in a 5e you will get higher compression.

Hes not on about raising but lowering, vitara pistons are used in honda's to run boost as a cheap alternative to forged internals. Some cars are making 450whp on them out of sohc d16's!

@lukep its about lowering the compression and running lots of psi. @morgey yea the vitara piston seen to handle a fair amount of psi some people down here take the standard gt pistons and shave them to run more boost

can you not just use a slightly thicker HG with the fte pistons?

well adding in things like the heat we have down here and gas quality u need more than a headgasket when running 20 plus psi but that's a good I idea to help with the built also drill the bock to fit 4agze arp bolts

yeah suppose so. can you not port out the combustion chamber too?

that has to be done as vitara and Honda pistons r 75mm and up. And any porting over 75mm on e engine makes it weak

Why run loads of boost? A higher compression engine gives more power, as long as it is tuned well theres no problem. If your trying to look for a safety margin you would be best going forged.

You never mentioned running boost you were just talking about 4e and compression ratio.
