Chrishoughton1989 Posted February 16, 2013 Posted February 16, 2013 Please help. What could this be ? Quote
pick1 Posted February 16, 2013 Posted February 16, 2013 Fuel cut maybe ? What does it feel like what the car doing when it does it ? Quote
Starbuck Posted February 16, 2013 Posted February 16, 2013 Leads, dizzy, plugs... Check all those. Quote
Chrishoughton1989 Posted February 17, 2013 Author Posted February 17, 2013 It almost sounds like its running on 3 cylinders. Gentle throttle sometimes it pulls through but most of the time not. Also it has a external waste gate should the dump pipe be dumping most of the time ? Thanks. Quote
aaddzz123 Posted February 17, 2013 Posted February 17, 2013 Check your plugs mate. Sounds too simple to be true but I've had exactly the same and know plenty other people have too.I'd recommend buying heat rage 7 plugs off www.camskill.com but obviously that's down to your preference and price range. Keep us updated.Adam. Quote
Chrishoughton1989 Posted February 17, 2013 Author Posted February 17, 2013 Prob sound stupid but it's another engine as the other one bent a con rod due to flood damage. But I put new plugs in already? Should I try the old ones? Or would you say there out the question ? Quote
fardo999 Posted February 17, 2013 Posted February 17, 2013 map sensor unplugged? mine was doing the same thing its on the bulkhead and it plums into the inlet manifold - i missed putting the pipe on afar i put my engine in and it would only miss when it came onto boost Quote
Chrishoughton1989 Posted February 17, 2013 Author Posted February 17, 2013 Will have a look tomorrow at map sensor, how can I test my leads ? Could the vacume pipes at back of engine that go down to the steering rack be on the wrong way round ? Or any other simple things ? Quote
aaddzz123 Posted February 17, 2013 Posted February 17, 2013 If you have a misfire on boost it means that the engine is fine until something has too much pressure on it. I don't think it will be coilpack seeing as it would be affected all the time usually however it could well be HT leads... What happened before it started to do it? Anything strange or unusual? Did it start misfiring suddenly or gradually? Have you changed anything?... If you've only just fitted this new engine it could just be you've missed a plug somewhere or a faulty sensor. Bad earth possibly. List is endless if it's not the obvious. Just take your time and check over everything again. Quote
aaddzz123 Posted February 17, 2013 Posted February 17, 2013 Also to check plugs just pop them out and see if the ends are black or wet Quote
funny onion Posted February 17, 2013 Posted February 17, 2013 When mike was mapping mine yesterday it had a misfire under boost. Put new plugs in and it was still there. So tried new dizzy cap at it was fine after that. Quote
mattyD Posted February 17, 2013 Posted February 17, 2013 When mine was misfiring, turns out one of the leads kept popping off and gave it that running on 3 cylinders feeling, real lumpy and didn't wana boost! No doubt yours will be on the ignition side of things, just a process of elimination mate as said already, check the plugs, leads, dizzy cap and rotor arm Quote
Danza V Posted February 17, 2013 Posted February 17, 2013 Its something electrical.. id check plugs, leads, dizzy. Go for simple thigns first Quote
