Addymk2
Just a high whining? Do you no if its getting fuel?Pump might be shagged.Could always undo the hose off your fuel rail and see if it fires petrol everywhere when you turn it over lolIs the car actually turning over? You say the belts are spinning but are they engaging the cams etc? Take the oil cap off and see if they are spinning.Weird solutions but weirder has happened!
Johnboy GT
check your starter motor mate if its a whining? Does it turn over then miss? John
Collins611
Cheers for all the replies found out I got 17 teeth missin on my cam belt sliped went out of time and hit all the valves so there's no compression to start the car So might be a new valve an seats job and head gasket or Out of time and head gasket kit anyway
AdamB
These engines are non-interferencd so they the valves wont make contact with the pistons if the cambelt snaps.

Collins611
Will let u know the outcome of this as I stripping today :/ fingers crossed as Adam said they shouldn't of bent the valves
AdamB
100% mate, but it will depend on if the head has been skimmed before and how much has been skimmed. If you've lost compresson on a cylinder either you've dropped a valve head or some piston damage has occured, although tbh mate, if you've slipped that amount of teeth, you will lose compression because the valve opening and closing times will be all over the place in regards to TDC. Bang a new cambelt kit on there dude and set the ignition timing, she should fire up Edited March 4, 2013 by AdamB
Collins611
So u recon to do a compression test on it first if reads fine bang a can belt and re time it ?? Or if the compression test reads 10 -15 say the u recon piston or valves damage ?? Also I dout it been scimmed before as it looks like original can belt lol ??

Collins611
What is the sensor under the distributed cap ??
morgey
Stick a new belt on there with it all timed up correctly, check the compression should be around 170ish if there quite even then fire it up Sensor under the dizzy is a temp sensor iirc
Starbuck
As Morgey said. New belt, timing done then check compression and go from there. Josh and myself can always lend a hand should u need.
AdamB
You will need to fit a new belt first mate as if its skipped that amount of teeth you'll probably find the intake and exhsust valves will be open giving no compression. Whack a belt on there and then do a comp test, if that comes back all good just fire her up Dont go removing bits just yet, it will likely be something small.
