Azz
As above guys just need someone to confirm that this is an LSD box ?
Rob H@RCH Engineering
Thats a stock box unless it has a aftermarket lsd in it. only way to tell that is to pop a shaft out and have a look inside the casing. Edited March 19, 2013 by Rob H
H_D
or spin one wheel by hand whilst its off the ground and the other wheel should also spin if it has LSD
Azz
Both wheels do spin togeather yes
Rob H@RCH Engineering
Chances are it is then but to be sure as you have a shaft out I would pop the CV and a look inside, both wheels should turn the same way with a LSD but its not all ways the case but it is a good way to get an idea. yaristurbo
It's a stock box, check the above to see if it has a aftermarket lsd installed
morgey
Jacked up and in gear to both wheels spin the same way or opposite directions?Same way its aftermarket lsdOpposite its most likely Non lsd (not 100% true but most likely) only way to tell then is to remove driveshafts

corofin12345
ok... the OEM factory lsd gearbox had the LSD on the outside of the box.. easy to see this is a stock gearbox but there could be a aftermarket LSD inside the box.. OEM LSD = outside of gearbox on drivers side "easily seen"aftermarket LSD = inside the gearbox, "cant be seen" as mentioned above, the easiest way to check to see if a gearbox has a "aftermarket LSD" is to jack up the front of the car and spin one wheel by hand.. if it "has" a aftermarket LSD, the other wheel will spin the same direction.. if the other wheel spins the opposite direction, its a stock gearbox/stock diff... theres no drives in the picture, to be 100% sure, pop out one of the inner joints from the gearbox and look into the box.. if you can see a bar, its stock.. if you can see straight through or if theres a plate theres a aftermarket LSD in there.... RicoW
oke let's hijack this... I have a non oem lsd box from my breaker.in neutral the wheels turns the same way, in gear they turn opposite way.I have the box removed and I can look straight through it...is this an lsd box? morgey
Does it look like any of these in this linkhttp://www.ukstarletowners.com/topic/55996-identifing-aftermarket-lsds/#entry717283
RicoW
haven't had a good look inside... but I could look straight through it. will check out tonight when I get home
RicoW
just had an extra look at the topic posted.just for extra confirmation: you can't look through a stock box? and you can if there is a trd lsd in it?can't see it clearly on my phone...do they make more noise when driving? more then standard? as mine did.(sorry for my bad explaination english isn't my native language )thinking more and more I have an extra surprise from my glanza breaker
morgey
A stock non lsd box has a 12ish mm pin through the driveshaft holes, you can see through either side of the pin easily. The oem lsd in that post is actually from an import corolla levin/trueno and is different to the starlets oem lsd (which is easliy distinguished from the outside of the box) I dont know what the starlet lsd looks like if you look through the driveshaft holes unfortunately
RicoW
so, here are the pic's... really crap quality as I had to hang over a few doors bootlids etc to take the picture... other side:
morgey
Yep thats lsd, doesn't look like any on the list above but its deffinately a lsd of sorts.
RicoW
thats a good suprise then bought the car ubercheap for the td04 kit and the MeisterR coilovers...so far I found a (still) unknown harness with other map sensor (I think emanage) a 3.6 kgs flywheel and this lsd... Whoop Whoop me is happy! but now the next question, what brand is it? to me it looks pretty much like a TRD? as that's the only one where you can completly see through...anyone ideas? corofin12345
nice find.... so many LSD's with holes in them... hard to know exactly which one it is unless you opened the box...top assumptions are quaife, trd mechanical or kazz
