Problem number 564289622!!! after 2 weeks of ownership

Right guys..

2 weeks into owning my glanza of ep91ben........... :/ I've had problems.

Sump leak

Gearlinkage

Vaccum leak

Now I got the bigggest problem of all I think. Crunch in 3rd gear.

All the other gears drive normally, but gear 3 it wont go in and makes a very loud crunch.

Put in a new gearlinkage about a week ago.

Any suggestions?

sounds like a you have a worn out syncro.

Can the gear be selected while the engine is not running, does it actually go into gear still?

If its crunching but going in then i would say the syncro is worn out, it wont do anything to the gearbox, its just more of an annoyance.

On a plus note though a box can be picked up for less than £100 if you do want to change it.

Right just did a little tester..

When the car is off, it goes into 3rd gear without any crunching.

When the car is running on standstill it goes into 3rd gear without any crunching.

When driving it crunches into 3rd gear like a motherfucker

Change the gear box oil for ATF and see if that makes any difference, these boxes dont like thick oil and 3rd is normally the first to be a problem. Dont get me wrong 3rd syncro more than likely is worn but changing the oil will make it a lot better to drive.

Synchro's usually pop on these gearbox's usually third too, if it is the lucky part is a gearbox costs between £80-100

2ns gear syncro was 27+ vat last time I got one should only be around 70 for someone to strip inspect and replace
