smb2011
What is the easiest way to tell with out taking the head and everythink off? Im running td04 at 253bhp mapped to 1bar which i think is quite high for 1bar on a stock engine i have seen them around 220-
iamlegend
really who mapped this? got a dyno print out? wip the sump off...
jayc-glanza17
take sump off and take some pictures, it soon tell if its forged or not..253 at a bar on a td04 is a great result, but who tuned it?
smb2011
Td done it i have two print outs from them at 245bhp with the turbo running in (new turbo) and one from a month ago with a oil change vpower and turbo run in at 252 down in reading dyno il whip the sump off what am i lookinh for any type of name/numbers
akyakapotter
you say new turbo is it a td hybrid ? id use a bore scope up the oil return to see whats inside sod taking the sump off bastard to reseal
TurboTobz
You'll see I there forged they look totally different to oem take a pic if you get stuck
smb2011
Its just a re-condistion turbo that needed running in, il take the sump off and that a picture but i wouldnt of thought no one would have mentioned it wasnt forged but it just seems really high bhp for 1bar i dont know what esle that could have been done to be at 252bhp
AdamB
Chuck a bore scope down it, as above the sump can be a pain in the neck to seal again.
ryan lang
use a bore scope bud if you can get a garage to have a nose. if you can get a pic from their monitor if its clear enough
Weyro
maybe its running a thinner headgasket?
Chris_14a
If your car is a 98 spec they had different cams and usually make more. At a bar it wouldnt matter if it was forged
ryan lang
If your car is a 98 spec they had different cams and usually make more. At a bar it wouldnt matter if it was forged whats different about them :s

akyakapotter
Yeah the cams are different that's why they make a little more power than the 96spec

Weyro
we all know that 96 specs are for real men, and the 98's are for their wives and daughters ;)
akyakapotter
2 different types for 98spec ryan Edited June 11, 2013 by akyakapotter
daniel_g
Interesting stuff there ^^ Also, Weyro, GTs for real men hahahaha.
ryan lang
i know the part numbers are different. but doesnt mean they are different in spec whats the lift and duration for both?
akyakapotter
different according to mike that's why the late spec Glanza's are making better power than the older ones
ryan lang
could be because they are newer? holding compression less and have 2 years less of a bollocking on them. ask them to post the difference with pics please dude. i could be wrong, but id like to see the difference if i am
