Kai_ethan
What's the best option from front mounts for a reasonable price without having to cut front bumper to much, or will an uprated top mount be a better option
Mr. Chem
There aren't many intercoolers that will fit without chopping the bumper somewhat. The problem is compounded if you are looking to retain your a/c.Arc top mounts are direct replacement and a lot thicker than standard. If you are planning on running mega boost though I'd recommend a front mount.
mikey4410
as above, pretty much known that bumpers have to be "trimmed" to put it lightly.lol the cores are usually huge which is the prob
Kai_ethan
Wanted to run about 1.0bar and okay thanks
mikey4410
and i wouldnt bother with a top mount upgrade, imo a waste of time as there susceptible to heat soak like mad intercoolers are pressure tested to a heck of alot more than what most people run boost wise so u will be fine most are tested to 4-5 bar at minimum apparently
Ryan_EP82 GT
I have an rx7 top mount intercooler and noticed a big difference over the stock one.. Only cost 50quid and I didn't hafta cut nothing!
TurboTobz
you can fit a intercooler (of large size) without cutting, my old bumpers were never cut and bumpers slipped on and off as they should, depends how you mount them, my first glanza had small cut outs so it sat snug and looked really tidy imo, way better than the uncut bumper looked. Not so keen on people cutting 85% of there bumper off and replacing it with an intercooler lol
Ryan_EP82 GT
Lol..couldn't agree more! I wouldn't like to take a grinder to the bumper at all.. Plus I like the stealth look of not being able to see the front mount!Which fmic involves the least cutting? Any differences between the short and long route apart from a minimal amount of lag? Chops
i bought a slimlineish one off of ebay, same size as an hdi but slimmer. i got it in without chopping or loosing my ac, after a titanic battle lol. ill find it and link you
Chops
http://www.ukstarletowners.com/topic/66451-fmics-and-air-con/oh bugger, the kit i was linked to and bought on that thread is 1200 odd quid now, wtf. a generic hdi clone identical to that one should be somewhere in the 180 area, and are usually slimmer, enough to get it behimd the bumper without cutting
Gainzy
Fm will always be better much less heat soak but apparently it is safe to run 1bar and it will be quicker spool time for the boost aswell with the aftermarket topmount am sure browner has a trust one for sale
Ollieh17
I'll have an ARC topmount i will be letting go cheap soon..big improvement over the stock one
Ryan_EP82 GT
shit that's major cutting lol... im contradicting myself a bit here as I said I don't like cutting bumpers, but that genuinely looks awesome!
