Jamie5414
Hi, I've been quoted £50+VAT (£60) to powdercoat each of my speedlines, So £340 in total (They won't give me any discount either, for 6 alloys). This is with me delivering and collecting to their sprayshop, and supplying without tyres. Would you say this was reasonable? ThanksJamie
Chris_GlanzaV98
in a word, no i would shop around seems a bit snidey the fact you are helping out alot with stuff like tyres off droping them off and picking them up etc, try other places
Idrees
We can have them done at £30+ VAT but delivery back and forth would add a fair amount on to the price!
Jamie5414
I was recommended them from a mate, He said they do great work, and the quality is brilliant. It may be worth paying for, plus powdercoaters are hard to find north of Aberdeen. In England it's pretty easy, There is always one local-ish down there, hence the lower prices. They mark them up up here as they are hard to find.

Dale SR
a work for an alloy refurb company and ye its steep man, would be an ok price if they sorted out tyres, always best they do tyres anyway cause they wont mark them puting them back on, take them to tire fitters chances are there getting marked. shorty
I paid 50 per wheel for 2 piece volks. I supplied without tyres and collected after. They disassembled an marked the centres and drums for pairing then i reassembled (my choice as they did offer but im anal lol) then my mate whos a tyre fitter refitted the tyres withought damaging them. A decent tyre fitter should be able to fit a tyre without damaging the wheel and a decent powder coat should be hard to mark or damage anyway tbh. That was a local powder coaters who also do wheel refurb. I wouldnt go to a wheel speacialist as they are genrally a rip off from my experiance.
MARC MOSS
We pay £50 for all four
Jamie5414
That's down south though Marc, What's the quality like?

Dale SR
I would not power coat any alloys! Get them painted. ye that's the problem wi powder coated alloys, they can buckle easy lol
Jamie5414
I would not power coat any alloys! Get them painted. Why mate? Powder Coating is thick and durable if looked after, Paint is just thin & can chip easily.
JordanEP91
Powder coating wheels is fine bud, i have had so many wheels done and never had a problem and as you said its thicker than just paint
Chris Green
I get powder coating done for the price of a 1L or Gordon's gin Wheel's manifolds anything.
Jamie5414
I'll have to bite the bullet and get them done I suppose. I would have liked to have held off using them and waited until after christmas to find somewhere a bit cheaper, but since my tyres are off already I'll go ahead and get them done at this place that quoted me. Hopefully some pics up soon on my PT ! Cheers guys
davehart
Why mate? Powder Coating is thick and durable if looked after, Paint is just thin & can chip easily. If the process is not done correctly it can weaken the alloy. Little reading: http://www.toyotagtturbo.com/forums/showthread.php?60084-Powder-coating-Wheels-BAD-IDEA I would never feel safe running powder coating rims and most respectable wheel spray shops do not touch it for very good reason. JordanEP91
When the wheels come out of the oven, they are hot but deffo not hot enough to get buckled, have you been in a spray booth when that gets warm?

shorty
Lol any thing done wrong is bad. Powdercoated wheels are fine. My mate who balenced them said he has never seen a more true wheel than my alloys and was amazed at the quality of the job they did! If you jad seen them befor and after the refurb you would never belive it was the same alloys!
Jamie5414
Took them down today, I haggled with him and said i'd pay cash so I got them for £50 a wheel instead of £
Burt-21
I am a powder coating what colour and I will tell you if I think you going to get ripped off
