Kate
As above... There is a bit of smoke when pulling away hard, it smells a bit too. Any ideas?

iamlegend
good bye turbo tits or stems Edited April 17, 2014 by iamlegend
Glanza1996
Sounds like turbo mate
Jamie_VF22
Turbo seals or valve stem seals
Kate
Literally just my luck! Have spent couple of grand on it and now fucking turbo goes aghhhhhhhThanks guys
Jamie5414
I thought you had a similar smoke problem not long ago Kate? What was that problem?
Kate
Not smoke? Well not that I can remember?Guys - so would I have to reseal the turbo or would it be cheaper to get a new (well second hand one)?
Liam_D
Turbo wouldn't smoke on boost if it was just the seals, usually it would be on overrun.
Kate
The smoke seems to be coming out of my exhaust, so what do you think Liam if it isn't seals? :/ I'm so confused lol
Mikeyallgood85
The smoke seems to be coming out of my exhaust, so what do you think Liam if it isn't seals? :/ I'm so confused lol kate have you done a compression test on the cylinders? If not I would suggest you do that before spending any money, by doing a compression test it will tell you if it's piston ring related or not! Its a process of elimination and if the compression results turn out ok then the next step would be to remove the de-cat and check for oil residue from the back of the turbo! Kate
Okay thank you!
Kate
Compression test was very even so nothing to worry about there at least that's one thing! Going to a dyno tomorrow so hopefully will find out what the fuelling is like. I changed the oil return pipe and smoke isn't half as bad

Kate
It had a split in it lol.
Kate
Update - I went on a dyno today... It's over fuelling big time.I have a JAM ECU which I thought that would sort that? They have told me they think it's holding back because of the fuelling issue. They have told me to get the ignition timing checked and also get a fuel pressure reg. problem is (some people may have read before) I had huge problems with my reg then was told I don't need to run one with this ECU? I really don't know what to do? Does anyone else run a FPR with the JAM ECU? Helppppp! Lol
Mikeyallgood85
What's it boosting at? Id say turn the boost up if your fuelling allows you too!
Mikeyallgood85
Ignition timing is to do with the timing of the spark! 10° advanced is what is supposed to be set at! it's easy to do you just need to a timing light and there are markings on the crank casing 0-10! Kate
It's running at .8 and still just 154 bhp at the wheel. It's holding back I'll get the timing checked. But what would people suggest about the FPR and ECU together?
Mikeyallgood85
I haven't herd of any problems myself, I'd set your boost at 1bar that's probably what your ecu has been mapped to fuel it at! Plus you'll get some more pony's out of it and it will lean it out a tad witch should stop it bogging down!
triple j
Apexi safc would sort that out.
Kate
But the tuning people at the dyno tried and it just wasn't going any quicker but fuel was too rich, Ill see what the timing like is first if that's ok, I will get the FPR and if there is still no change will send that back and look at getting safc. It's never ending with my car!
