daniel_g
Piston ring or ringland failure most likely.
russ78
blowby as above
24smiley24
Ideas on how long it's going to hold up?
russ78
depends how bad it is... compression test the engine it will give you some level of severity
daniel_g
I wouldn't count on it being very long. I'd get it sorted asap. If youre lucky it'll be ring failure, but most likely the actual ringlands on the pistons will be cracked / breaking away.
mikey4410
It wont last.its failed, end of.that starlet needs tearing down and rebuilding before any more damage occurs.without doubt u have melted piston or ringlands have broken up.
24smiley24
Thanks for the reply guys...If it is just ring failure is that a easy job or amI basically still f##ked
patman
Still fooked mate as you still need to strip the engine
daniel_g
If its just the rings then that means you can save your pistons. But yeah its still a big job unfortunately.Noticed you live in Prestwick, good place to take it would be G.I in Killie.
24smiley24
Yeah was on the phone to them today there fully booked till Tuesday just hope it holds up till then as it's my daily car... Been told if am going to fix it would be better doing the forged rote but again it's money and time.... With the mods a have what else would a need to do this?? Gainzy
sell the ecu to buy a cheap ruabout, use that for 8-10 weeks till it's forged sell the runabout to fund for the upgraded management either that or break it for parts cash is king unfortunatley! You could always buy another engine and transfer parts aswell but how much can you trust 2nd hand engine.
24smiley24
Right guys got a compression test from 1 was 175 from 2 was 155 from 3 was 105 and from 4 was 175 so will this just require new pistons? Or should just strip the full car??
