white-gt
So I noticed the chatter sounded different , noticed e filter fell off e turbo , so fixed that but it feels like it's hesitating in second when boosting even though it boosts to the full bar . Any thoughts ? Turbo chatter sounds normal again. Etc
white-gt
so it appears to be that its more flat befor 4k rpm then it starts to take off.checked for boost leaks and fixed any i thought looked dodgy.other thjan that its fine. tried to feel the intake blades on the turbo and they feel alright.. dont understand whats changed as it was running perfect last weekend
aidanep71
Dirty filter maybe
white-gt
just took the filter off and cleaned it, tightened all the clamps all thru the intake, the power is just not the same at all.even took the battery off to reset the ecu and still no different..no smoke or anything else different from what i can see.. still boosting to 1 bar but doesn't feel it
daniel_g
Try setting the base timing with the dizzy. Should be 10 btdc.I know its unrelated but if its retarded at all then the car wont feel right.
white-gt
it ran fantastic since i put the new fuel pump on, done 120 miles kicking its arse and it was perfect. the dizzy is very tight and no chance of moving
daniel_g
Hmmm its a weird one, could be bad batch of fuel ? Blocked fuel filter, sticky injector, weak spark somewhere in the ignition setup, faulty TPS, turbo on the way out, etc.My 85 was running like a bag of shit recently aswell, was messing about with it for weeks trying to find the problem, think the leads were sitting a bit funny in the dizzy cap but not too sure. white-gt
i just put fresh fuel in but the proiblem is the same.. the turbo might be fucked i guess.. can see their being any other issue.think i'll take it to the garage n let them check it out
daniel_g
Did you get it remapped in the end ? I mind you saying it was off to P.HQ
white-gt
nah it was running too lean , was up at 15 afr at 4k rpm, eventually narrowed it down to the fuel filter which was changed and it ran soo much better but now its shit.very strange and annoying! daniel_g
Aw really, maybe the turbo was damaged when the filter was off ? But then loads of folk run without filters and all is good.
white-gt
yeh its really strange.. boost takes longer to kick in but all the pipes are tight. fukin car is pissin me off!
white-gt
ok so i put it into the garage to get it checked and they said they cant find anything wrong with it at all.compression is fine, leak test came back with nothing, cmoke test came back with nothing. he said it feels like its struggling in higher gears.so ive booked it into a local dyno to get the fueling checked again make sure its not over fuelling or under.. any other thoughts? could the turbo be fucked even though its going to 1 Bar and no smoke etc? Gainzy
Check the simple things first don't blow your wadd all over a turbo as it might not be that, if it's your tps sensor I have one but I would check the injectors first or have a code reader check must be something sticking, let us know what it is when you find out. Gainzy
Come to think of it I would first do the diagnostics then check tps then knock sensor hope you get sorted
white-gt
i have a dastek unit though so will diagnostics still work?thank matey
white-gt
ok so done a dignostics and nothing came back as faulty..changed the airfilter and still no better, checked the turbo and the blades look fine, their is some side to side but minimal in and out and still no smoke etc..if im driving in 2nd and the rpm is about 1.5lk and i floor it im not on full boost until just after 3k rpm and it doesnt feel like it picks up propper until around 4k rpm.the garage done a compression check, leak test and smoke test with no results.. disconnected the battery for half hour also with no results. any other thoughts? im still leaning towards either the mbc or fueling again.. white-gt
is it possible it could be the actuator causing the issue?
daniel_g
Yeah man defo, a lot of them are very old now. EWG is the way to go
Gainzy
Ebc are also the way to go the boost comes in so much better could indeed be the actuator from now
white-gt
but even though when it appears full boost is on the bost isnt actually their.. would that still be related to the actuator?
Liam_D
What actuator are you running?
white-gt
its a HKS adjustable . ive taken the mbc off and checked it, all seems fine.
