Coxxy_94GT
I heard a golf tdi go past the other day and when it chattered it got me thinking . Does anyone know why when a turbo fitted to a deisel engine chatters it sounds so diefferent to one fitted to a petrol engine ? Or is it just me ?
Glanza-Ben
Block the dumpvalve up on a petrol turbo and will chatter well

JayJ
Main reasons for the diffrent chatter sound is that diesel motors have lower rev range, colder exhaust gases, lower turbo spin speed and no back pressure on throttle close.
daniel_g
Theres a diesel vectra round my way that does it and it sounds like a pigeon sneezing

funny onion
I always thought it was because of the lack of back pressure when the throttle closes. got a few boras round here that seem to chatter forever lol.
