djhasin Posted February 28, 2015 Posted February 28, 2015 Hi. Just received my engine.. has the fte throttle body but for some reason has the breather hole on the front right corner (if your looking at the front of the engine) which I think is from a n/a engine? U reckon I got sold a fe engine or a fte one? Any way I can check it? Quote
5e colin Posted February 28, 2015 Posted February 28, 2015 take a pic of where the oil pressure switch is ( just to the left of it ) Quote

5e colin Posted February 28, 2015 Posted February 28, 2015 yes turbo block na blocks dont have that :) Quote
djhasin Posted February 28, 2015 Author Posted February 28, 2015 Ahh thank goodness for that lol.. cheers Colin. . Don't see why there's a fe cam cover on it tho? Quote
daniel_g Posted February 28, 2015 Posted February 28, 2015 What does the oil filter look like ? Has it got the standard re locator on the block is what i mean. Quote
daniel_g Posted March 1, 2015 Posted March 1, 2015 Yeah FTE, its also got the thermostat housing with the turbo water lines which N/a engines dont have Quote
djhasin Posted March 1, 2015 Author Posted March 1, 2015 Yeh nice one lads happy days.. is the n/a rocker supposed to be better or something lol Quote
morgey Posted March 1, 2015 Posted March 1, 2015 God knows lol.Ideally get yourself a 4efte one or make yourself a racespec cover with some AN fittings. Quote
mikey4410 Posted March 1, 2015 Posted March 1, 2015 no its not better and wouldnt run with one.you need both breathers on a turbo , that I do know. Quote
5e colin Posted March 1, 2015 Posted March 1, 2015 guys them part can be added onto a 4efe block so not a good way to check it its a turbo block or not could be a na with turbo bits bolted on if u check it that way ( like my engine ha ha ) Quote
djhasin Posted March 2, 2015 Author Posted March 2, 2015 so the only way to distunguish is via the oil pressure switch? Quote
JDMfreak Posted March 2, 2015 Posted March 2, 2015 do you mean the piece of steel protruding from the block colin inline with the frost plug and running down to bottom of the curve Quote
5e colin Posted March 2, 2015 Posted March 2, 2015 (edited) no the bolt that bolts in the block there is only on turbo blocks ( at the point of stanley ) on non turbo blocks its blank Edited March 2, 2015 by 5e colin Quote
JDMfreak Posted March 2, 2015 Posted March 2, 2015 what about this though a casting impression surely not there for no reason http://i801.photobucket.com/albums/yy299/boxy_boy/Photo0317_zpslvl9pwuw.jpg] Quote

morgey Posted March 2, 2015 Posted March 2, 2015 If its anything like 4ages later engines had the added ribs for rigidity Quote
