Looks like I'm going to need to get gearbox rebuilt so was thinking of getting an lsd fitted at same time.

What are everyone's experiences and opinions on different lsds?

Any help will be great thanks

few people had said to be quaiffe was the best lsd but after chatting to some of the zisco lads alot of them go for the trd clutch type diffs so i went for that and it seems bang on the money.

mines a noisy car in general big rattle clutch side exit blah blah.




TD ran that gear set on there demo gt am sure not sure who bought the gearbox after them tho

It really depends what you use the car for.



Track work clutch type diffs are the best.


Road use then helical.



Clutch type diffs require rebuilding, they also require greater maintenance like oil changes every 5k miles, plus it has to be special LSD friction modifier oil.


The helical diffs are maintenance free, use no special oils, change it at normal service schedules.



Helical diff's don't work as well as clutch type because when the inside wheel becomes light, it doesn't know where to send the power and basically acts like an open diff. Obviously this is really only going to happen on the track if you're bouncing through kerbs.

Mirror what Adam has said and for the same reasons i don't like helical diffs. Drove plenty of Quaifes and they just aren't as instant to lock up like a proper clutch type diff too.

Also what you've posted up there isn't a gear set, its just a final drive, which as far as I'm aware with the TRD one shortens all the gears and lowers the top speed. depends what you want really.

that's y am going to give the Cusco another try next time after we talked about them on another thread I'm sure whoever I got my old box from with the Cusco in hadn't been ran in properly it was extremely noisy
