Ollieh17
Keeps coming on for a bit then going off, its a new switch. New oil pump seals etc and cambelt. Gauge isn't working either
Ollieh17
Comes on when first starting but goes off straight away too. All idle aids have been removed so idles real low on start up
karl.
It would be worth raising the idle to save any wear of the bearings! The light always comes on startup for a second or so. Always seems alotttt longer but.
Ollieh17
Have to throttle it until it warms up slightly otherwise it cuts out, coolant lines bypassed and iacv removed and plugged.
karl.
There's a screw under a black plug on the throttle body, adjust it slightly?
Ollieh17
It idles spot on when its warm so dont really wanna change that.
karl.
Even 100rpm would make the difference. It's save u having to change the bearings in the long run I'm sure.
Ollieh17
I start it and hold it at 1,500rpm until its warm,it will cut out otherwise. Pretty much manually raising the idle instead of toyotas auto features
Calum122
What's this about low idle damaging bearings? Why's that then?
karl.
What's this about low idle damaging bearings? Why's that then?If is isn't idling high enough it can't build enough oil pressure surely?
Calum122
But then there isn't the necessity for high oil pressure since their isn't any load on the engine. Just that sometimes I'll be sat in traffic and the car can sometimes idle at like 800RPM, I'd prefer it to idle a little higher, drive it up the road and it'll be bang on with the idle. I just dab the throttle to keep the rpm's up. I can appreciate low rpm's with load causing lugging, but this isn't the case, this is idle with no load. Unless even 1000 rpm's is just the right amount of oil pressure for an engine and 700 really does affect the oil pressure that much. I do have an oil pressure gauge, really should plumb it in! mikey4410
ure light shouldnt be coming on at all idling.mine idles real low for lots of engine braking and mine sits at 600 rpm and never seen that light at all. theres no nees to up idle speeds to make oil pressure more.thats wierd suggestion. Ollieh17
It only comes on when first switching the car on and goes straight off. The today started coming on randomly, on idle and at speed
patman
I would get that gauge sorted ASAP mate see what readings you get, and just hope it's an electrical problem, have you got access to another car for now? In what I learned and read though if everything's right and there is a problem the damage is already done
Ollieh17
Suppose to be driving to castle combe tbh lol. If the engine gos peng its excuse to finally have a 100% reason to break it. Just dont want that happening on the way or way back
patman
I know what you mean Ollie it's a pain in the arse hoping it isn't a rebuild, is there anyway at all you can get that gauge rigged up?
Ollieh17
Gonna give it a go again tonight
patman
I will say one then though mate when my bottom end was going it would idle when warm and the oil light was flickering
Ollieh17
Pulled over to check.... Cambelt side cam seal fell out Edited May 18, 2015 by Ollieh17

Duduglanza
Regarding oil pressure.. what the oilpressures on yours guys On startups/warm idle and WOT??
patman
I am using 5w 40 fully syn oil, on start up mines around 60/70 psi, warmed up idle sits at 20psi at WOT mines up the 60's psi something like that what readings you getting mate
