ashep91
Hi I was wondering what was the most power and boost someone had run through a stock motor usind a tdo4 turbo
5e colin
dont look at power but boost mate its the boost that kills them after a bar its a ticking timebomb for ringland failure
ashep91
I can't find the post but am sure I seen a guy running 1.2 bar on a stock engine ive got a apexi power fc and wepr tdo4 billet I don't want to forge at the moment so wanted to know what I coukd get out of it will I need bigger injectors if so how big?
5e colin
sure indeed you can but trust me wont last long those pesky ringlands will fail if you dont want to forge now keep it at 1bar and some 370cc injectors for the 04 it should last a good while if its mapped right
ashep91
Would it be laggy? What kind of power would you expect
5e colin
tdo4 aint laggy perfect turbo for 4efte redline power around 210 to 230 depends on healt of block
ashep91
Would that be at 1 bar? Also would I need to upgrade my injectors if so how big
5e colin
yes and with 370 your safe
ashep91
Best place to buy 370 injectors from? Are they a direct fit? Will 370 be safe if in tge future I forge and go for 300 bhp
5e colin
370 is on the small side for 300 injectors ask ere there direct fit indeed
ashep91
Where can I get them from? Also do you think I should start with larger injectors then 370 in the firat place for future purpose or does it not work like that
RobSR
You want the smallest injector you can get away with as they will have a nicer spray pattern. Standard injectors are fine for 220bhp. Which IMO wouldn't bother going over on a standard block. For 300 you want 440's but even that is pushing it, 550's for anything over etc. Edited May 20, 2015 by RobSR
_shaun_
i ran 1.3bar on a td04 stock engine stock injectors. the engine got its arsed kicked every day for about 15 months untill i broke the whole car and sold the engine. a lad driver ran 1.6bar from memory on stock engine and never had any other but people have poped them before even hitting 1.2bar. its just a gamble on the stock engines really down to how far you want to push it 1bar is fairly tryed and tested
ashep91
So you think I will be ok with standard injectors at 1.2 bar on tdo4? What kind of power were you getting at 1.3 bar? Also what ecu were you running
ashep91
Also would 1bar on a tdo4 billet be laggy?
_shaun_
mine was road mapped on a e manage ultimate so no idea power. stock injectors should be fine. the laggyness of the turbo really depends on the type/make different billet turbos could spool differently
RobSR
What spec td04? A billet td04 is such a blanket statement and could be anything. On most starlet related ones i.e WEPR/TD/Race-tech (granted i don't know the individual specs on them, and I've not run one personally so can comment on the lag) you will make apprx 230-240 at 1bar
ashep91
Ive got a wepr billet hybrid stage 2 mani down pipe ext waste gate mine was road mapped on a e manage ultimate so no idea power. stock injectors should be fine. the laggyness of the turbo really depends on the type/make different billet turbos could spool differentlyWhat was the lag like on a tdo4 stock engine with your set up mate
_shaun_
a normal td04 isnt really that laggy if set up with a good map and ebc. if i didnt forge my engine id stick with a billy basic td04 suits the engines very well.
ashep91
What rpm did you get full boost at?
ashep91
And did you map it yourself? how much difference does it make to mapping it on the dyno
Chief Quimby
I know for sure, it will handle 1,3 bar and 225 hp. My friend has been running that for at least 1,5 year, and he is using it alot, and often high speed
ashep91
Did your friend change to bigger injectors
