Timmah
No updates since December when I put the lip on. I'm off on holiday for two weeks this Friday and a friend who is a mechanic is going to take care of the oil leaks, clutch and replace the cambelt for me After that I will put a rear sway bar on and start replacing top hats on the struts as they're all shot and one is knocking badly. Timmah
Small update: Most of the engine work has been completed. The bad news, the Thrust Bearing isn't looking to the the cause of the bearing whine issue, it's possibly the input Shaft Bearing. However when they tried to split the gearbox, they couldn't as the 5th gear hub (so they say) is seized. Bummer. Will probably chuck a second hand box in there and call it a day. I'd love a LSD box, but they're too rare here in NZ to find, so I'll have to do without, which is alright.
Timmah
Car is back in my hands and boy does it feel good to have it back This weekend my friend is picking up a gearbox for me, it's a non-LSD one, but for $100NZD (about 50 pounds) I can't complain. Fingers crossed it's in better condition! The seller said it shifted well and made no noises.
Timmah
Small update: mounted the boost gauge on the pillar where I've been wanting it for a while. Hopefully the double sided tape holds!
Timmah
Update for the sake of an update, The gauge fell off, so I'll screw it on. I've also found a front lip that's now on it's way from Japan

Timmah
Happy Easter everyone! Yesterday I bought my first jack, however it's low on Hydraulic fluid, so I'm not going to use it until I can top it up and bleed it. I was hoping to do a simple tyre rotation but that can wait. Instead, I decided to re-paint the plastic trim that sits around the front window wiper blades. Forgot to take a before picture, but it was very faded: Full size: https://i.imgur.com/zOnJREU.jpg Gave the underside a quick once over with baby wipes. Full: https://i.imgur.com/VefQ7XH.jpg Full: https://i.imgur.com/I6o1DAa.jpg Full: https://i.imgur.com/ct18E54.jpg Full: https://i.imgur.com/62MNByN.jpg I also dropped a 12mm socket and it fell down the drives side guard, so I jacked up that side of car and fished it out. Found that the ABS line was not bolted down on the chassis, so I fixed that up.
Timmah
Small update: - Found a knock caused by the bolt in the middle of the drivers top hat had managed to unwind itself Yesterday I dropped the ol' girl off at the mechanics to have the following done: - Gearbox swapped (Prey for me guys that is a goodie) - Rear sway bar install - Rear rear wheel bearing to be replaced - o2 Sensor swapped with one I purchased from ID-Workz

Oh well, it is much quieter though! - Mounts for the rear swaybar on the chassis side are too short and cause the swaybar to hit the rear subframe/cross member - Rear wheel bearings replaced, but now we can hear the drivers side front bearing going - o2 sensor happily swapped and working. All in all, a bit gutted about the gearbox, I did try search for a new syncro but haven't had much luck yet.
maerijn
Bummer! Are the boxes hard to find?

In NZ, they do seem a bit harder to find, or I'm looking in the wrong places. For now I've figured out how to drive around 3rd gear being grindy by being very gentle
Clinternational
Spray painting that trim at the wipers looks really good. I know how ugly the can fade haha need to do mine also. Nice work!
Timmah
Over the weekend, the rear sway bar went in: Full: https://i.imgur.com/z7Ed3er.jpg And I then jacked the car up and greased up the front sway bar bushes: Full: https://i.imgur.com/hrOEdNS.jpg Full: https://i.imgur.com/niJokGF.jpg Even though it's miserable here and about to rain again, I gave it a much needed wash: Full: https://i.imgur.com/heBsV40.jpg
Timmah
Decided to replace the fuel pump with a Deatchwerkz DW200: I don't think anyone has been under here for a very long time! That fuel sock looks gross Old with the old, in with the new! Much nicer
maddox710
Nice work, I've got a dw200 waiting to go in mine

I did have to chop the plugs off the cradle and solder on the plug that comes with the pump, but aside form that no issues! The fuel sock that also comes with the DW200 is a lot smaller in length, but I had already purchased an OEM sock which also fitted on perfectly.

Timmah
Just a nice shot of her Of the bad side though.. I've decided for now to just have the lip painted as I was talking to the painter and he said it'd make more sense to repaint a lot of the car and I don't think that's what I want to do just yet. Calum122
Nice, bummer about the box. Can you not just have it rebuilt?

The original one is at a gearbox place, waiting to get worked on.. however it's a friend of a friend who is working on it and they, like me, have put it on the back burner. I am dropping the car off tonight to get the drivers wheel bearing replaced, so I'll be asking about the gearbox then
