I have had 3 5efte engines, with 250-412 hp. And know a few who run them too. Never had a fault on bearing. You dont need upgrade pump, you need to run the right oil, and make sure clearence is right in bearings.
I used the 6 speed from jap 20v in my 400hp 5E., never killed 3 gear. Only time i tryed, was in old race car, after massive test and tune on road, the gearbox was very hot. You need to cool oil down.
Like Colin say, they properly come from the same place. Have you ever heard a stel conrod break ?, i havent. I have them in my 5e running over 400 hp, running them for almost 10000 miles.
Yes, you do have to tighten it 2 times with mls, and yes, you can use stock bolts twice. I did it in my 5e, running 412hp. I even reused the gasket and bolt after i bended 8 valves, still no problem.
