  1. Skint at the moment, credit crunch and all that, so been thinking of things I can do to the car on the cheap. Got TRD coilovers on at the moment. They are set quite high so was thinking I could slam them for a change. Had a flick round the internet for some guides to see how its done but cant find anything clear enough. So anyone have the know how, a quick guide? Do I need some special tool? Will the ride suffer being lower (mega harsh as it is)? Also I want to do it while there on the car, I have no intention taking them of in the cold. Thanks David
  2. To be honest I thought it was a waste of time, fun time but still a waste. Car was still filthy after I rinsed it so still had to wash it properly. My mate bangs on how its impotant to do this first to get all big bits of dirt off without scratching the car or something. Dont see it myself but im not into all this detailing stuff.
  3. Yeah the only gasket toyota supply is for the standard system which is a small circular one that goes over the end of the standard pipe then into the cat to create a seal. Any exhaust place should have or be able to get you a gasket to fit though.
  4. Yeah i did have a look there, couldnt see it myself. Was hoping it would be off a subaru or something i could get hold of. Anyone know of any other lips that lip over rather than stick under that could be starlet friendly?
  5. That was quick, chances of finding one? next to none yeah?
  6. Any bodywork guru's got any ideas on this one? Think it looks quite tidy almost oem but not quite. I think it could possible be a modifiead oem lip but not sure? Wouldnt mind something similar myself, think it looks better than one stuck under the bumper like the laguna splitter.
  7. That safe, no unwanted side effects? Anyone else done it?
  8. Always thought my brakes were crap, kept doing things I didnt quite understand, then today i think ive realised it must be the abs... Under heavy breaking if i go over a bump even if its just a small one i feel the brake pedal go down further. Like i push the brake pedal as far as it will go, then when i go over a bump, it goes a little bit further. After it does this the brake pedal has a little bit more travel than it did before going over the bump. So gradually over a few months i loose all pedal feel and have to bleed the brakes. I always though this was just me being harsh on the brake
  9. Yeah it is mint being able to see the n/a all the time and I still drive it now and again, although its really wierd driving it, felt so fast when i owned it but after drving the V all the time its just not the same. My mate has some bits planned so ill update my old thread as and when. Found a few pics on my phone that i had My zep console Also did this to the car the other day Was snow foaming it or something, dunno what it was supposed to do but it was proper mint fun, my mate is well into all this detailing stuff so i get to use all his stuff he has. Have also picked up some cheap 1
  10. Thanks for the above, couldnt ask for anything better. Ive read the pros and cons of turbo stall so ill see how it goes. Thanks again.
  11. Was also wondering this, i fancy some chattery goodness. EDIT: Ive just been thinking if i remove the line from the inlet, where will i get a reading for my boost gauge or should i just block it from after where the boost gauge is plumbed in?
  12. Yeah was nice to meet all the manchester lot, was mint fun getting kicked out of tesco the first time and listening to vtechs blasting through the centre of huddersfield. We also took it slow back home on the motorway, could see bugger all with all the rain.
  13. So you supposed to have it off then?
  14. Are you supposed to do it with the engine off? Last time i did it with it on, does it make a difference?
  15. I got a set of 5 in good condition all with decent tyres for £120 so dont go too crazy if there kirbed to death.
  16. Its is a giant twat of a job to do, there is a lip round the back part of the lambda sensor so if you dont have a perfect size spanner its pretty impossible to get off. If you still have aircon and the stadard efi pipe be prepared to swear a lot. Id also remove the rad so you have a bit more to work, even then its still a twat. Also watch out for boost creep after you fit it. Had to turn my actuator down to below .6 bar and it creeps upto .8 bar.
  17. Pretty sure my n/a never did it, next time your bored and stuck in traffic test it out.
  18. Glad im not the only one, starts up fine and i know the battery is fine. Just another quirk of owning a starlet I guess then.
  19. This doesnt really bother me I was just wondering is it some clever design or my electrics being crap? I was stuck still in traffic the other night whilst it was raining. In my bordem i realised my wipers were moving lots slower than normal (on constant just wiping slower). Then when I started moving again they went back to normal. At first i though thats cool that they slow down when your not moving because they dont need to wipe as much rain off. Then i noticed my lights would also get brighter when i started moving, i couldnt see this as a clever design which ever way i looked at it. So

  22. Thought it was an ace race, last few laps were mental but Hamilton fully deserved the title, never been so pleased to see a Toyota going so slow. I enjoyed this bit...haha
  23. Quick update of how things are now..... I got the exhaust sorted and put where it should be, the middle box was caved in so had that cut out and a pipe put in its place also had a new flex section for the front as that was caved in. Wasnt happy about it a first but love it now, really opened the exhaust noise up. Its still quiet enough when normally driving but on boost it sounds mental, love it. I then managed to get a RX7 tmic, put that on and it really opened up the top end pulled lots more upto the red line and boost didnt drop off. After that i got an sps decat pipe, got that installed s
  24. This got busy quick, should be a good one.
