standard re- circ blanking plate?
DavidAshton replied to danny_glanza v's topic in 4E-FTE Engine Discussions
Do you mean the hole in the efi pipe? Im sure its a 50p coin people use or might be a 2p coin i cant quite remeber. -
Closed filter was always better when i had the n/a, felt way nippier lower down the revs. Anyway my mate has a k & n pannel filter he never uses, ill ask if he will sell it. Also turbo and n/a are both same.

I think I may have a fault with my abs or is it just the way the starlet system works? I dont think it is because i dont see anyone else mention it. Basically, whenever the abs kicks in I loose a little pedal feel i.e the brake pedal can travel a bit further after over say 6 months i eventually get to the bottom of the pedal i.e cant push it in any further and have to bleed the brakes. Its not too bad normally i can live with doing it every 6 month or so. So with the snow the abs has been going a little mental and has been kicking in all the time for quite a few seconds and my brake pedal has gone from firm and working properly to loosing all pedal firmness and at the end of the travel and not applying the brakes fully in one day. Im pretty sure this shouldnt be happening and ive not read of anyone having any similar issues. Im also pissed off that ive just had to go out in the snow and try and bleed the fronts without taking the wheels off, obviously its helped but im still going to have to do the full system this weekend now. Is this a fault or does abs work by letting air into the system, in my head i can see that it could work by letting air in the system to take pressure off the disks, in that case i guess it would be normal. I normally wouldnt mind running without abs but recently it has saved my beans so want to keep it. Any input would be apriciated. David

Well I sold this car about 6 month ago but its with a good friend so still see it all the time.....my mate didnt do too much too it at first, just tinted the rear lights and got a new exhaust oh and had a few bumps in it first car n that......then the other week this came up for sale... For the bargin price of £400 with the headlights.......sugested he got it and that was that.....off to Manchester we went to pick it all up. As the car was a little worse for ware with the few bumps its had we decided to fit it all now rather than get it sprayed up....sort of rat look for now.... So off we went n/a to glanza in under 3 hours.....pics of the job Boot off Boot and bumper off (can see the new exhaust too) also stripped the rear in the process. New bumper on Slight issue with the exhaust to be sorted. Arse completed and all wired up and running. On to the front Looked good with just the glanza bonnet but it hung forward way too much Blinding her Blinding complete Bumper gone New eyes on and bumper ready Indicators back Good to go Number plates on Off she goes. My hands are fookin battered now was bloody freezing. Should be an interesting project now. Still to fit the skirts and decide on colours but ill keep all progress up to date.

Its ok now, got it all transported last night, the answer was no. There would have been no chance of getting all that in and a passenger in 1 starlet. We struggled getting it in two starlets. Bonnet and tail gate ended up in my mates car then I had bumpers and side skirts in mine. Wasnt a nice ride back with bumper poking me either.
-
My thoughts exactly haha infact i think im going to struggle getting it all in 2 starlets
-
In the back of a Starlet with seats down do you think id be able to fit a: tailgate bonnet front bumper rear bumper sideskirts all off another glanza and a passenger up front? Any thoughts?

does this turbo need to be water cooled?
DavidAshton replied to robclio16v's topic in Intake, Turbo & Exhaust
You on the right forum? Try http://www.cliosport.net/forum/ -
When mine arrived from jdm land it had a strange boot light set up but it worked well, it was one of these long strobe lights that plugged into the ash tray and flashed to the music but you could put it so it was always on. The wire was under the seats and into the boot. Just switch it on and the boot was well lit up. Cheap way of doing it i guess.

The gauges are 52mm and its a tight squeeze to get 3 52mm gauges down there so the only option was to custom fabricate the holder part. I got the rear arb as part of a group buy dave at starletgtturbo had going a bit back think it was £130 delivered.....well worth every penny.

Little update of what ive got done over the winter, slow prgress but it winter isnt it. Few months back descovered these gems hidden under the dirt, was still having brake issues with them being shite so after finding these I thought it could only be the pads. So I got some fresh standard pads for the back and these for the fronts. Braking fixed, solved and bloody perfect, pedal feel is spot on and when i need to slam them on its like hitting a brick wall. They do feel like there murdering the disks though but not a fan of the gooved style ones so will see how long these disks last. Next up was a little interior update, was getting a bit tired of the interior and whole car feeling dated, always felt i was driving an old car compared to my mates cars so this was a nice updae for the interior and onece completed should feel lots more up to date. Before After This the first bit of diying ive done for a car and i well enjoyed it even though it took ages. The back part that the gauges are in is black perspex so when the gauges are turned off they are smoked and blend in with the shiney black background. Built this from scratch so quite proud of it haha. Although the current gauges are pretty useless at the moment having rev, boost and volt, they were the easiest to wire in but its all part of the bigger picture. I intend to relocate to boost and rev into a double pilar pod and have oil temp and water temp in the centre console with either the volt or egt, not decided yet. Next and final thing ive got upto is the rear arb. And foooooooook me I can fully see why people bang on about how good these are, 100% the best mod. Handling is totally transformed, just grip grip grip bugger all understeer just point the nose and off it goes. This combined with the uprated braking (also has an adjustable panhard rod I discovered which my n/a didnt) has fully completed how I want this car to brake and handle. Handling and braking now sorted and out of the way its time for more power. My future plans are to first get the car feeling more upto date, so going 98 spec front bumper with clear indicator lens' and 98 spec rear lights. Then fmic, i feel these look better with the 98 spec bumper too. After that SPS manifold, jdm ecu and up the boost. Pic I found from the first day I got her. Hopefully next update she will be looking rather different to this.

My Automobile (work In Progress)
DavidAshton replied to iamlegend's topic in EP80/EP82 Progress Blogs
Another auto or you gone manual for this one? Nowt beats the feeling of having a new starbo on your drive..... -
Its not an advanced or owt just a black Glanza, its on an N plate and has the plate mounted to the right also has a cut out for a fmic but it looked like there was no fmic the other day, has the 96 optional front lip too. See it all over Rotherham but never on here.
-
Off topic but do you drive a black glanza? Keep seeing one round rotherham?
-
My gauge is option too haha..... im begining to think its the gauge then......they do look well nice though dont you think.
-
Got the same thing happening as you mate, the whole lag type thing, it dont bother me that much as i have the normal rev in the cluster. My gauge is a 52mm gauge and i did think it probably looks laggy because its so much smaller that the normal tach but now you mentioned it maybe its not that. Mine is wired from the diagnostics too. Im not too fussed as i only put the rev in till i get the sandwich plate for the oil sorted then ill take it back out. If you sort it let me know...

I do wounder what the wrc are going to do.......its going to be more like citroen vs ford challange next year. Cant even see where any of subaru or suzuki's drivers can go.

DE-Restricting 1st & 2nd gears
DavidAshton replied to Dan Evans's topic in 4E-FTE Engine Discussions
Only way i can think of doing it is an aftermarket actuator. Dont know if its supposed to work but on mine i have no 1st 2nd gear restriction just full lo and hi boost in all gears. I guess its because its piped in differently. -

DE-Restricting 1st & 2nd gears
DavidAshton replied to Dan Evans's topic in 4E-FTE Engine Discussions
I dont get what your saying you want it de restricted but still use the hi/lo button? I have mine hi/lo piped in with a toytuning actuator, no restriction in 1st and 2nd but it has lo boost of 0.6 bar and hi of 0.8 bar. Only way I think u can have Hi/Lo button and no 1st, 2nd restriction. -
Just stuck a rev counter in mine today, in the diagostics box there is a port labled Ig, stick it in there and all will work.
