  2. Spool. thats about it realy. But once its running nothing says you cant forge later. but if you can id forge first. even if it takes a year to build. atleast it hasnt gotta come out again and then you gain alot more than spool too.

Tbh for 10years shes been waching various carparts come and go through her lounge lol the secret is to ask nicley and not make mess grants rents are legends too. Hes got a full on rally tent in the front garden and at one point my v being slowly broken for parts too lol

  5. Wont know till your mapping. some lads have run 1000cc on starlets so who knows lol is all down to a map at the end of the day.

  7. Thats the thing not many people think of it like that till its put a bit more black and white! insurance doesnt just cover your arse it covers other road users too!! And just to rub salt in it my old v was 730 fully comp and if you have seen my build thread on it it was insanley modded. and yes everything declared even the specifics of the internals of the engine! My ep 85 is 100 quid more though with less mods but not many less ;) insurace companys do need to wise up tbh. yes a starlet has potential and yes they are quick but when you can insure modded skylines and supras for less surley something isnt quite in order!!
  8. Have you tried some of the smaller companys in the back of banzi?? the lesser heard of companys can give some of the better prices. Try limiting you milage as low as you think you can realisticly use as that can help ;)
  9. You better hope you dont stack it if your not to declare the swap as your car wont be covered!! No offence but its lads like you who get cuaght out by the system who the drive insurance prices up!!! You are basicaly driving uninsured every where you go!. But hey who cares if you kill some one or destroy there pride and joy when you smash into it at speed. you have a sleeper on the cheap maybe its because im old but i can never EVER remeber insuring a car i didnt declare the mods on. and if it was too expensive i didnt mod it!! Your not insuring you shiney crap under the bonnet your insuring the lifes and possesions of others who travel with you or others you my effect in an accident!!!!

Ok cool ill pm him too bud as i think we need a clear answer as to what the effects are from the two different clearences. as the jdm would be the sensible bet but i want to know now if theres a reason some are using 5efe and if they are just mistaken or know something we dont. Edit: both texx and 350ep70r have been pm'd to get more input as to why/what the ill efects could be or if theres a benifit at all. ill post up as soon as i get a reply guys ;)

Hmmmmmm. fist i appolagise. as im not afraid to admit when im in the wrong. i would guess that running the 5efe specs is going to cuase premature closing of the valves and take away power from all over the rev range. Im gonna pm chris and get some input for this thread. as im now curious as to why he builds to 5efe shim tollerence. id also like to know wich will give the best results.

  13. Intake 15-25mm exhuast 31-41mm this is taken from chris over on tgtt he made the 4efte engine assembley videos and has been building forged engines in greece for longer than most have known about starlets. these are the tollerences my engine is shimmed to as are many many others.

    Except on ARP!!! No90° turn dude just stop at 60ft/lb. Like i say can recheck torque after 10cycles if you wish. but no 90° degree turn is used with an arp bolt/stud set!

    I know its old but update so ots acurate for searched info. Is no 90° turn just three equal stages upto 60ft/lb. if you want to be mega anal then recheck tourque afyer 10 heat cycles. i.e warm up-cool down is 1 cycle.

Been running my forged lump for 5years done over 10k miles. never used a "race spec cover" just a breather on top. last time i had the engine apart for upgrades it was as mint as the day i got her. tollerences are all spot on. no undue stress apears to of happened. but as ricky said maybe it depwnds on spec and build??

WEPR all tge way tbh. been in the starlet scene for donkeys, proven and tested and no where near as expensive as other kits. come with lifetime garentee too. what more could you want dude. also td05's have sevral models in the range. is realy starting to bug me with how many people on this forum say they flow 300 at a push. have you seen the bigger td05's they are fuckin huge!! Just get a gt series mani kit from wepr then you have loads of scope for turbos dude. as for price/quality wepr are very much affordable and quality is second to NONE!!!! Cant be arsed to correct all the mistakes. im on the phone lol fat thumbs small keys lol
  22. Just to reinforce though. there is a definate jump on oem tollerence between inlet and exhuast. so whatever you do dont make em all the same lol.
  23. Think inlet is 15-25mm and exhuast is 30-40mm or some think like that so one or two are out. thats probs where you issue is bud. overall not badd but a few there that are gonna mess with valve clearence. get em swapped out as even if the tapping dont go the performance will improve ;)

    MR2 calipers

    Different carrier on the mr2 caliper. you will need to get the celica or levin carrier to make em fit. I can 100% tell you that as me and grant have an abundance of toyota calipers ;)
  25. Id just used to use a cap paddle on my hybrid ct9 setups. nice clutch and not overly harsh tbh. Was softer than the exeedy paddle and lasted 100,0000,000000,00000000 times longer than my exeedy paddle did!!
