Mine makes alot of noise too, it's good though, if you open the throttle only a little bit (for normal driving) you still have a very quiet car, you wouldn't even know any difference between a standard airbox. But past 4k rpm at WOT is rather loud.

With the radiator moved over so the filter has a direct flow of air this is the best setup, but you're fucked if you go through any big puddles and the filter will need changing more often because of the amount of dirt down there.

Similar to mine, works well IMO. Airbox is restrictive on the top end of the revs.

I don't have this problem on my N/A but sometimes it wont go into reverse you have to put your foot on the clutch go back to neutral, foot off, back on, then into reverse. Also with this gearbox I find that if you fanny around with it and try to be too gentle with it then it wont go in gear, you have to give it some force, not ramming it in but give it some good amount of force and it goes in easily and smoothly. I love the gearboxes on these cars, no spongey nonsense, just a nice clunk each time you change gear.

You say you have trouble with traction yet you don't like 4WD? I'm not the biggest fan of it either but 4WD with a 4EFTE in a lightweight shell i.e. a Starlet is a recipe for a pocket rocket.

I'm POSSIBLY also interested lol... how much? But then again I'm fussy with things like this, don't fancy a car that's been damaged but still... 4WD is win. edit - hang on this IS 4wd isn't it or am I thinking of the wrong car lol ?

Got my car a valentines day present... an MOT certificate lol. Failed on CV leaking, but was fixed a couple of hours later, whole thing (MOT+CV) cost me £50.

There's also a 2JZGE version or was that on the IS300? 1GFE is a joke. TSP why not look at a GT or Glanza with the optional extras? You could buy a good one on your budget.

I wouldn't be scared of rust because of the Starlet. Yours must have been a bad example, maybe you live near the coast? Sand/saltwater isn't good I hear. I had my Starlet up on a ramp the other day and underneath it was spotless (other than the obvious dirt...) but there was no rust or anything it was good.

Could you not buy a high milage one (cheaper and doesn't matter about miles) and then convert it to turbo with new internals? Then again insurance would be a bitch...

Another idea is get some 2nd hand Rota GT3's and have the middle bit (the coloured part) refurbed and painted the same colour as the rest of the car.
