The thin long black strips going across each side of the roof? They come off easily. One off mine blew off in the wind. Need some more.

How The F**k Do You Remove Springs From Shocks?
ste91 replied to ste91's topic in Chassis & Suspension
cheers for the replies I wont be fitting them to my current Starlet though, waiting to get a new one with lower milage. Just wanted to "refresh" the suspension with some new paint mainly to protect it from further rusting. I'll either get the garage to do it or just borrow their spring clamp. -

I live next door to a garage so I'll just ask them to do it. -

So it's not something I can do myself with just a socket set and spanners then. :/ -
I got my KYB New SR Specials and TRD springs today, but the springs are rusty so I want to respray them. How do I get the springs off the shocks? Had a quick search on google and can't find anything...
-
Wiper blades? You can get them from Tesco in all different sizes but be warned they do not "last" very long, they work well for a bit and then after a while they're rubbish and don't really work properly.

Little update... I have bought some KYB SR Special's and -40mm TRD springs from Idrees, should be here tomorrow. ;) But they wont be going on this car. I'm saving up to get another N/A Starlet with lower milage then swapping all my parts onto it, then selling this Starlet. As soon as I have enough money for everything I'll also be buying an adjustable panhard rod and a rear ARB. Unless I get impatient and just put everything on this car. ;)

The reason for loss of power is because people don't research things and find out what parts they need. A 3 inch straight through exhaust for example is going to be pointless on a 1.3 N/A. Bolt ons are fine aslong as you are using the right parts. The problem with the N/A Starlet is that not many people have pushed the 4EFE very far, most people tend to do the basic mods then wait for a GT/Glanza.
-
You can't remap it but you can use a piggyback. IMO it's not worth it until you have supporting mods, you'd want to get atleast the basic bolt ons first and then go the next step with things like cams/headwork/ITB's/etc...

I'm looking forward to it as these films are quite entertaining especially the first one. The problem is though too many people think of them as reality rather than a film. I've always found it stupid that people feel the need to copy something from a film. You don't see Spiderman fans swinging from buildings do you? But the unrealistic bits like Toby mentioned are annoying yet funny to watch.

Coilovers look great. Will have money for the suspension tommorow.

Saw this on AUSC a while back. My opinion: Petrol or fuck off. But then again, more people using other fuels means more petrol for us.
-
nice suspension mate As for the lights I'm not too sure on them either but then looking at the Reflets again I don't think they look any better or worse. Maybe try Carats? Or those rare as rocking horse shit ones that are like Carats but instead of being flat it's bubbled out like Reflet/late spec Glanza lights.
-
Yeah figures with rolla mani and filter would be nice because so far those are my engine mods too.
-
Sounds fair to me. Would have to do the dyno run as an actual before and after though as a comparison to both.
-
1 BAR is roughly 15 PSI or something like that.
-
Patience is a virtue apparently. Either way, I'm in no rush tbh.
-
Why? Where is Starbus anyway.
-
Yes but the problem was I couldn't "observe" the road markings because there were cars over them. So I had no chance. Either way I'm not bothered any more apart from the £55 ripoff for another test.
-
Luckily someone cancelled their test so I've only got to wait 9 days for it now.
-
You could probably get that almost round again. You'll need a cylinder shaped thing to shape it to... been a few years since I did metal work at college I can't remember a fucking thing lol...
-
The hangers etc... are the same but the actual bit where the exhaust connects up to the downpipe/manifold are obviously going to be different because of the turbo. Could do a custom job on it though. IIRC the standard Glanza system is 2 inch diameter? That would be ok for the N/A but anything bigger is too much IMO unless the engine is heavily modded. Don't take my word for it though, best to ask someone who has actually had a different exhaust fitted.
