What Tyre Sizes Have People Got On There Lowered Starlet?
Jozinobi replied to the-dalester's topic in Lifestyle General
Panhard rods for the starlets are universal (GT and Glanza and N/A) as they all share the same axles. I'd recommend the RSR which I use myself. From what I've read over the years the Whiteline are harder to fit as they have tighter bushes. It may cost a little more but it is a quality piece of jdm kit that does the job perfectly. Davehart who I know is selling one RSR. These are usually imported from Japan and its at a very good price. All depends on what you're willing to spend and what products/brands you want on your EP. As stated regular service will resume very shortly. Just need to get the engine fully rebuilt by a reliable secret source. Wee John should have the wiring ready to plug and play too. Will be going with the QUAIFE 4EFE gearbox and a oem lightened flywheel to avoid wasting time and may prove fruitful. TRD Clutch cover and a standard non-exedy clutch disc is on the cards. This gap in time has allowed me to pick up more useful parts for the build (Apexi 52mm boost gauge, Blitz SS Bov, HKS centre section and other sexy starter parts) so it has worked out well. A better condition CT9b appeared so we'll be using that instead of the cracked wastegate CT9a that came with the donor engine so happy days! ETB (Estimated time of boost) 2-3 weeks Joz -
Dale's Hybrid Glanza Build Thread
Jozinobi replied to dale10ellis10's topic in EP91 Glanza Progress Blogs
Really nice build mate Lots of attention to detail and looks like a lot more to come. Would like to know what brand ram mani fold and hybrid you're running Keep up the nice work and most of all enjoy the car! Joz -
Nice update broski Will be great to see a visual update of that sexy gauge. Im itching to start driving the EP again... All good things come to those who wait I guess Joz

Some pics of the N1 fitted would be great to see Joel Is it the EP91 specific backbox? Can't wait to get mine on Joz

You could have asked me bro lol The 5EFE obx fits the 4EFE and needs some shaving of the flange to fit over the power steering pump. The mani will hang a bit lower as it was designed for the 5E but its perfectly safe and I never caught anything with my EP and it was quite slammed. The decat pipe it comes with does not line up with the starlet exhaust system as its suited for the Paseo so is pretty much unusable unless you want to change the exhaust route which probably isn't worth it. The sensor holes need to be welded shut unless you want to make your existing o2 sensor longer which there is no need. They are helpful if you have a separate wideband sensor but apart from that, you won't need to use the sensor holes that are attached to the OBX. The normal position for the o2 sensor is near the downpipe/cat on your oem exhaust. The manifold is a 2" diameter so it will not match your thinner 1.75" ep91 exhaust system but it can be still be fit with the use of a tapered flange on the other side to match the mani's or you can chop the manifold flange and weld it straight on. I sold my obx to Luke (Starlet_SR) and he has it fitted to his 4E. When I fit mine I got a 2" powerflow system to match and had no cat at all, just straight pipe, nothing removable. My best recommendation would be to get a custom mandrel bent 2" system made somewhere reputable like Pipecraft or other good places that some n/a boys on here have used before to suit the OBX. If you can't afford then the mismatched diameters will have to suffice. As it is most widely available from eBay usa there is a slight chance you may get import taxed so be prepared to pay that. All in all I'd recommend it as a good cheap upgrade that will change the driving style for the better, just make sure you have it installed as best you can. Hope this helps Liam bro, please pm me if you need more assistance. Joz

Revving or misfiring/jumping problems I've experienced are most likely spark plugs, timing, ht leads, distributor or an electrical problem. Try the easy visual checks like a loose/damaged ht (spark plug) lead and it might be time to change the plugs. Its all about a process of elimination. Timing is especially worth checking as is the timing belt or other belts. Alternator/starter motor can also be a culprit as are loose vaccum hoses/earth leads on inlet manifolds. Also check your accelerator cable and surrounding throttle/inlet sensors. Sometimes these problems just crop up out of nowhere, I know the feeling. Hope this helps and wish you get the bottom of it. Take into account that brand new Toyota valves are quite expensive new and there are 16 of them. If it is beneficial going with larger valves on the FTE that has to be seen but I can't see why an experienced performance engine builder wouldn't take it on if you really wanted to have it done. I'd have a consultation first to find out more. Good/helpful places do exist. Joz

All the best with the new direction for the n/a bro Have changed the name of the mani for you!! Looking forward to see what can be done. Off the record I'd go for an EP8 chassis if I had the choice again, to be greedy I'd have both Joz

Try searching '5efe' first mate. It has been covered a lot but basically its 98% plug and play. You use your original 4efe throttlebody and tps, original engine wiring, can use 4efe ecu or 5efe ecu prefably if your car will take it. There are also two sensors that need changing over, one is a water sensor and the other I can't recall. I've had the swap done in my car, now going 4EFTE. If you or someone is competent they will have no trouble with this swap. The hardest part is finding a decent 5efe engine that isn't burning oil and won't rape your pocket nowadays. Joz

No worries mate. There are 6 bolt aftermarket diffs for us too but hard to find. I sourced a QUAIFE 6 bolt diff thanks to Rick. Joz
-
@Joel - The 4EFE gearbox takes a different diff with 6 bolts. The ones on show above are 8 bolt suited for 4EFTE gearboxes. That's if you were thinking of one for your motor. Joz

Happy Birthday Joe! Have an awesome day bro. Joz

I would finish this season and go out with a bang despite what anyone thinks even though you have achieved your record target time. You have spent all these years on it to get to the current spec, give it some more runs this season, pretty sure it deserves it. Then you can truly call it quits on the EP if you choose to do so and break it. You have the QTM record so congrats are in order. Joz

I'll be making a few meets once I get boosting Joel mate. After that you'll find me at Jay's Garage and Kirkistown. Im more based down the bottom of the map. Red EPs are for winners so don't quit on me now bro. Joz

Probs Sounds Like A Stupid Question But...
Jozinobi replied to silverglanza's topic in Intake, Turbo & Exhaust
There is no such thing as a stupid question but please try to type a meaningful title instead of your true thoughts Posting how many posts you all have is also off topic and spamming. Please refrain. Thanks Everyone, it just keeps the forum tidier. Joz -
Why post in the rides section???

2010 is yet another chapter of the continual growth of the EP scene. Happy to be a part of it. Welcome to all new traders. Joz

See you bright and early monday in the Costa Jaystar for EP operations. Please give my thanks to Steve for helping with the removal. Joz -
The n/a 4EFE clutch is smaller Steve so no chance they would have used an n/a clutch. A genuine standard issue Exedy would start to slip eventually anyway, and a counterfeit one would probably slip even faster. Joz
