  1. Pm'd Rhys Yep, sounds good to me, I need some time to get things sorted too, got a few small developments in my mind for before/after christmas.
  2. Hmm, All I know is that when I adjusted mine, I didnt touch the Cusco bottom ring. I adjusted using the two top rings instead and I found that lowering the rings height lowered the ride height. The threaded shock bit did not turn at all, only the rings which pulled the lower part of the shock upwards, thus making the overall shock height from top to bottom shorter. Eitherway, as wallace said, give it a go, which way the rings should turn will be the least of your worries if they are seized up (which can happen on some coilovers). I'd be interested to see which way works, but I'm willing to be
  3. Errrm, thats not right wallace. To lower the ride height, the top lock ring (and the bottom of course) has to be screwed downwards not upwards! This pulls the lower part of the shock up into the top part lowering the ride height. I should know as I just fitted my cuscos the other weekend and adjusted the ride height using the two lockrings pictured above (instead of using the cusco lower part, I may look into this if it helps the ride quality). I thought at first it was the way you just described, but when I turned the top ring so that it moved upwards, the ride height became higher. Lowering
  4. White lit business park FTW! Top man Even though your car has seen better days Sparky, you could still come out couldn't you? Albeit in a mates car or something?
  5. lol, the lanes I could handle, the speed bumps not! I'd be up for a meet every month, especially if it was around the newport area (not too far to go), bare in mind that us bristol boys have to pay the toll every time we cross sacred border!
  6. http://www.squirrelpf.com/turbocalc/index.php Good for checking out flow rates and boost characteristics of most turbos
  7. That sounds awesome mate, there are some amazing landscapes in wales and roads to match and I've barely even driven through the place! I was gonna suggest a meet before the end of this year but with the way the weather is now, Im not sure how feasible that'll be lol. If you can bring you're dad along too that would be ace, get a proper shoot going. Either way, if we find a location away from built up areas I'm sure well have much less bother from the public or god forbid the sodding police.
  8. I had a drive in my mates Crx with a B20 engine conversion. In terms of Vtec fun, it does sound awesome, but theres no real kick in the arse from it even in 1st and 2nd gear, it just feels smooth and progressive, before you know it you're flying but you dont get a sense of acceleration that good old boost gives you. Just something to bear in mind. I can't pass judgement on how a teg drives I've never driven one. I hear they are superb in the handling department as mentioned above! My Glanza hopefully will soon be where I want it (at 200bhp). Even now running 170 odd it is immense fun esp. on
  9. You see the pic of the guy standing in front of his glanza with the bonnet open, scratching his head pondering how he's going to rape his bank balance on more engine mods? Thats me. The guy on my left with the Black Gt (Hks Sunstrip) is Jack and I'm sure you know who Dane is. I don't think I got a chance to chat to you matey, defo next time we meet though!
  10. Nice pics man. Good to see some shots of us Bristol boys in there! Was a good meet, too bad the cops had to stick there noses in! Would have made an awesome photo shoot in that spot! Mind you, good turnout. When the weathers better we should get another one on the go! Good to meet you guys too.
  11. lol, I used to be a bit of a detail freak when I had my old car. Not so much now, Can't be arsed! Jetwash Ftw!
  12. Bring your maccys guys, just in case! I spent a good few hours detailing my car on friday Sparky, only to have it completely mud splattered by the time I got back from Salisbury. See you lot very soon
  13. Heres one half (or third to be specific). This is the half that took the hit, the other half is tantalisingly fine. I even put it back on the car and it looked as it did before, only one third was missing lol. Try fixing that with some fibreglass and some polish! I know someone who can get moulds made for about £130 which seems like my best bet, finding a second hand one for sale isn't easy.
  14. Cheers mate, Yeh the lip makes a massive difference to the look of the car! They're a bitch to get hold of though! When I get paid at the end of this month I'll get something on the go for sure. I may end up keeping my 96 bumper instead of trying something else unless I can get hold of a 98 spec bumper and lip, that may make a nice change!
  15. lol, Cheers Wallace, I almost forgot this was my car thread!
  16. Sounds good mate. Just to confirm I now have the day off work so I'm good to go!
  17. Sounds like your clutch is getting old and worn out so its starting to slip, thats my best guess buddy.
  18. hmm, sits similar to mine, maybe a bit higher. I think I'll get mine tracked and up the damping levels later today, see how things go!
  19. hmm, mines always pulled slighty to the left, have you got an adjustable panhard rod?
  20. Yeh sure man, no problem at all. I need to get my tracking done first. Thinking of going today but I don't really look forward to spending £40 on having it setup, only to sell the coilovers and have to have it re done again! Do you think the tracking could have a significant adverse effect on the ride?
  21. Cheers man, yeh I almost cry every time I see my splitter in the shed ruined Basically, theyre set up as the fronts on level 1 (softest) damping which might be causing a lot of bounce. The rears are on 2 now, apparently using a higher damping setting stops them from bouncing so much which might be causing the bumpy ride. The way I've lowered mine isnt ideal either, I have lowered the two locking platforms so that theres no preload on the spring (I think), but the shock is now being run in, even when the car is stationary if you see what I mean. This proabably is putting some sort of pre loa
  22. Boost creep is when your turbos wastegate cannot expell the excess air and boost rises up beyond your target pressure. This is often triggered by increasing the airflow in and out of the turbo (i.e adding a decat or airfiler straight from the turbo). Creep is often noticable as the revs get higher due to the nature of turbo spool and engine speed. to properly fix it you need to either remove the turbo and have the wastegate ported to allow the excess air to escape, or invest in a new manifold with an External wastegate installed instead of the one on the turbo. Hope that helps. EDIT: Just
  23. I hear that, thing is I only have standard shocks which feel a bit knackered now. Tell me if I'm wrong but uprating the shocks can cost about as much as buying a set of second hand coilys, thats beside the point though. Its a tricky decision to make. Keep the coilovers, having it look nice and handle like a go-kart while putting up with the Bristol roads, Or, sell up and go for a slightly more sedate approach, addressing the chassis shortfalls and keeping the ride. hmm.
  24. Yeh man, I do like the look of a low motor. Not sure If I can live with the impracticalities though! Yours looks so smart mate, what coilys are you using? Such a shame about the seized rears would look a beast with the rear down too, I was worried about that on mine but they adjusted straight away, didnt even need any lubricant lol I think Cuscos are fully stainless which stops the rust, plus mine look like they've only been used for a few thousand miles.
