  1. Thats right, from what I've read only Apex-i have been able to "hack" the toyota one but I think they were very involved with toyota at the time when they created the power fc.
  2. Hmm, I swear toby from toytuning wrote a good "article" on boost creep, helped me understand all this stuff long ago! It may only be on TGTT but I'll see if it can be taken over to the wiki section, then when anyone asks about it, point them in the right direction. I'm might write an options thread for the different types of ecu available, which are good and for what reasons, so that people can make a decision on which to choose. What do you reckon?
  3. Brilliant news mate! You'll be able to enjoy those bride seats to the fullest now
  4. That will sort the problem out mate, but wont be ideal for these reasons. 1. because you are getting minor boost creep, meaning a perfect map cant easily be attained and, 2. If you add any other significant mods i.e manifold or hybrid you will probably require a remap to get the most out of it. The boost creep will always be an issue though with a filter and decat.
  5. Hoh! Hoh! I canni wait to see this bud! So happy you've bought another starlet matey, Awesome!
  6. Awesome! As said above I'd love to have some of these locations near me Gotta get hunting!
  7. Hahaha, mint! Tell you mate hes a legend lmao
  8. LOL at the last 3 posts, especially the last one as I have no idea what it meant or refered to! B)
  9. Very smart mate, looks nicely modded indeed Just wondering though, are you running a standard ct9? 180 at the wheels seems unusually high at .9 bar (thats 210 bhp at the fly!).
  10. http://www.tuningdevelopments.co.uk/ http://74.55.13.198/forums/forumdisplay.php?f=64 There ya go matey
  11. lol, sounds about right. Take some time to get used to it first mind, this is the worst time of year to be buying a powerful car with all this Ice! I live in the southwest matey, if your profile is right thats a bloddy long way from edinburgh! But feel free to trip down if you want
  12. +1 FMICs ftw! Massive difference over a topmount
  13. I have a friend who went from a blitz access to an Apexi power fc mapped by a competent tuner. They eeked another 7hp over the blitz, thats just an example of how much the gains can be over a Blitz or Jam ecu.
  14. I talked to Nick Jones about this. He said that for a hybrid setup, there would be very little gains to be had using an emanage over a Blitz Access. But I do see you're point about a safe map. Most plugin Jap ecus run very safely and I have yet to see one cause engine failure at 1 bar as a result of a "bad" map. When you start running high hp figures (when you forge and run a much larger turbo), I can defo see the need for an emanage, but 90% of the plugin ecus available for the starlet are mapped for a CT9 so if you're going hybrid theyre a good option imo and cheaper. Nick Jones does some
  15. Sounds awesome mate, I've seen his before yeah, very nice indeed. Advan Sars have become one of my favorite wheels. Enjoy them, but be wary of curbs!
  16. The Blitz ones arent piggy back ecus, they are standalone units that replace the standard ecu. Jam, Blitz, Sard, Zep etc ecus are all similar in working, they all remove the factory fuel cut limiter and have sufficient fuel maps for well over 1 bar (many have run over a bar on forged engines and bigger injectors with such ecus). The ignition map is also tweaked (Blitz one is very good) and top speed limiter is removed, plus the rev limiter is raised. I'm not sure why they do this, possibly to allow for larger turbos which have a powerband higher up in the rev range. They are very versatile
  17. Yeah thats a good option I didnt think to list. I looked into doing this myself but for the expense of a manifold and Tial WG I realised buying a hybrid would cost a similar amount.
  18. I agree with this man here as far as Ecus are concerned. Although lookout for a Blitz Access one too as they are awesome ecus. I had a Jam one which seemed to perform well but my topmount was bottlenecking performance at the time so I sold it to buy an fmic. Once I had a Front mount I bought a Blitz Access (does much the same job as Jam/Sard/Zep ecu). I am told Blitz created an extremely good ignition map for they're ecus. The difference from 0.8 bar on standard management was incredible, absolutely nuts @ 1 bar on a hybrid! Keirz setup is similar to mine so if you check his out, I doubt you'l
  19. Thanks mate! Means alot that Good luck with yours too and welcome to uksc, its sounds like a minter from what you said in your thread.
  20. The more vents you have on your car the fasterer it will be. FACT. *Above claim may contain bullshit As for the Aircon, dunno £20? You may have to find some pipes elsewhere though because some of mine had to be bent/snapped to remove the ruddy things, in fact I think one of the pipes is still on my car as I couldnt remove it!
  21. lol, the aircon is in my shed! :haha: I don't think I could sell my car now, I love it too much to end the affair now. lol Here are a couple pics I took just after sunset (so basically 2pm lol). Kinda small update too as my bonnet is now donning a black vent! It was free too
  22. hehe, well next time I'm down there I'll call you up on your emergency line and you can be rushed to the scene to take that specific shot
  23. The core of the problem is boost creep (boost rising over the target level set by the actuator or boost controller). Messing around with air intakes and cats is far from an ideal solution, you want to make your car peform better not slow it down lol. Unfortunately the truth is to truely stop boost creep (which is a bigger problem than just fuel cut. Trying to map an emanage or other ecu with a boost creeping turbo is not easily done) you have two options. 1. Save your pennies and either have the wastegate professionally ported which means removing the turbo (you can do the whole job yourself
