  1. we need to have a little uksc raceup on here... whos up for thaT?
  2. mikey, your mate cant drive if he cant lose a glanza in country roads. i would challenge ANYONE on here, regardless of horsepower or handling setup to get away from tc-dave in his 164hp ek4. you could have a 300hp track monster starlet, and you would lose. ste, dont get me wrong, the ep is good fun to drive and it is fairly predicatable, yes. but you need to go in a well driven ek mate. the levels of grip the things generate are stupid. the starlet just simply doesnt have what it takes to keep up. obviously driver skill makes up for a lot, but this topic is about an engine swap, and why
  3. its not a bias opinion geo, you know that. i love starlets, ive had 3 of them over the years, and they will always have a place in my heart. that said, i also know them well enough to be able to point out their flaws. with similar power figures, an ek will always be faster than a glanza on a track. its just setup so much better.
  4. id rather have a dawes device than a cheap MBC any day of the week. a good mbc will outperform a shit ebc all day long. for about a 10th of the money.
  5. paint em yourself. take the clips off, get it in the oven and split the headlamp appart. job done ^^
  6. the starlet suspension setup was the same from 1989-1999. so yes, theyll work.
  7. you can run ITB's on turbo setups, its just quite a bit of outlay moneywise. it wouldnt really be worth it on a glanza though to be honest. the pulsar GTiR has throttle bodies as stock, for example.
  8. so were gonig to have a uksc forza championship. so i can school you all yes?
  9. told you it was something simple ^^ glad its sorted.
  10. gaz, starlets dont handle at all though mate. you cant even compare a starlet to a civic. they are not in the same league. the 3s still adds weight to the front over the 4e. and the last thing a starlet needs is extra weight on the nose, lol. jason, yes the 1nz is a lush little motor. but like you said, leave it in the yaris. its a better chassis than the starlet, much nicer to drive.
  11. now theres an idea jason! 1NZFE with a charger on it. they are fucking MINT engines, i love mine. that would work in a treat. they make about 140hp and 140ftlbs at about 3k. really drivable and nice. they respond really well to a good exhaust/filter setup aswell.
  12. ok, i know i said i wouldnt post, but, i was poking fun at you there mate. nothing serious. but i think youre getting your wires crossed and this discussion has started going seperate ways. ive never once said anything about compressor maps, as youre right, they both drop into the surge areas of the map for stall and surge. im not debaiting that, and never have. im not even sure why you brought it up to be honest? all im trying to get across to you, is that turbo stall, happens for a different reason than turbo surge. im not talking about maps or anything like that. just the basic prin
  13. its neither. its the valve thing for the carbon canister. just tuck it away somewhere. its fine to hang about as it does next to nothing. you could remove it if you wanted as long as you bung the pipe up. the MAP sensor is on the firewall behind the plenum.
  14. best mod for the 4efe is to throw it away and get a 4efte. the 4e isnt really any good at anything. the money youd spend getting it to be close to a turbo engine would pay for the conversion over and over.
  15. nope, the springs are different, but the cams are the same. only e series engine with different cams is the japanese 5efhe engine in the cynos.
  16. ok last post from me.. as this is rediculous/boring. you wasnt correcting mistakes mate, as im not wrong ^^; it IS 2 different things. and it IS caused by 2 different things. the way youre talking is like saying that using the brakes and crashing into a wall are the same. as both of them stops the car. i cant see how you cannot see/understand that? they happen at different times, because of different things, for different reasons. i mean, one happens completely off throttle, the other happened at wide open throttle ffs! one happens becuause it the pressure is physically stopped by the th
  17. they are the same. so there will be no difference.
  18. it isnt a matter of "winning" a debate matey. not for me anyway, i was merely correcting a mistake. it just seems like youre arguing to try and make yourself look like youre in the right and clever. even though its a simple concept and youre splitting hairs with it. the original discussion was you calling turbo stall, "surge". but youve subsequently admitted you were wrong on that one. youre just dragging it out now for no reason.
  19. wow, mate. let it go will ya? nobody is doubting your knowledge or experience mate, but youre not proving anything by dragging this out. they are similar, but not the same they are different things! blimey! they are caused by 2 different things, even if the end result is similar.
  20. mate, think about what youre saying..... you get a civic.... take the engine out of it, put it into a <you>MUCH</you> shitter starlet chassis.... you end up with a worse car than you started with, and an empty wallet. it will be slower than a mildly modded 4e, and it wont handle like a civic. so it will be crapper on both fronts. the only reason the vtec works in the civic is the chassis, they compliment each other perfectly. honda have pieced them together perfectly. if you take the handling aspect away from the b16 it just becomes an overly revvy, torqueless motor. it would
  21. almost mate. creep is when you have more exhaust flow than the wastegate can cope with, even when the wastegate is fully open. so no matter what you do, you will start to see extra pressure "creep" up as the inducer spins faster due to the extra gasses. youll see it higher up the rev range. the pressure will increase at a steady rate no matter what you do with your boost controller. CT9s are known for it (as they are poo ^^) once you get a decent exhaust and a filter.
  22. hks/blitz/sard etc. any decent make to be honest, you dont need a fancy one on a 4e. id recommend a blitz dd if you can find one for a good price.
  23. no offence taken mate. i like having discussions ^^ glad you conceded about the surge ;) but, if you want to split hairs, they could be considered the same. (even though they are not....) they happen for 2 different reasons. and have different names. the mechanics of how they both happen are different. but ill agree to disagree. so lets leave it there, thats enough dick swinging from the both of us for today ^^
