Questions About Engine Rebuilds
Starlet__SR replied to ste91's topic in Alternative Engine Discussions
It's all about getting everything perfect, having the correct torque settings, knowing how to set certain things, using the right bearings, it comes with practice really, shit happens, I once snapped a ring when rebuilding my c20let, luckily enough it was a spare engine. You can actually get build manuals too, it helps to be meticulous with everything. I've got a build portfolio from a prokect that I did, i'll try and find it for you, then you'll be able to see how much work goes into one lol. Damien -

Hence why I do all my own work, no matter how big or small, similar situation happened with my parents isuzu, all was needed was a simple clutch change, 3-4 hours job, costing no more than £270 inc genuine parts and labour, needless to say, they made out it needed a new flywheel, which I know for a fact it didn't, ended up costing over £700, anyway as time went on, It was due for a service, as I was removing the underbody armour I noticed a rather shiny snap on spanner wedged on one of the gearbox bolts!!!! Hmmm, so out of curiousity I checked all the other bolts, of the 12 tha

Throttle Body And Inlet Manifold Cleaning

I've got a set of shotgun cleaners, just attached them to a flexi pipe, sprayed some carb cleaner down and scrubbed, as for the tb I used a toothbrush, same stuff. Damien -

Ah cool, sounds good:D Damien -
Yesterday out of boredom I gave the inlet and throttle body a good clean on, plenty of gunk was to be found. After a thorough cleaning, and readjustment of the throttle cable, went for a drive, and it drove so much better, it revved alot quicker, no hesitation whatsoever, Has anyone else had similar experiences? Very nice, engine bay is very tidy, think a nice set of Do-Luck's would suit it to the ground lol, car is stunning though, what plans you got performance wise? Damien -
The first vid is off of High Octane 3 or 4 I think, mental car, mental engine lol. Damien

My mate did the same thing, wasn't as nasty but still very gory, got some weird looks at the hospital as I couldn't stop laughing or spewing lol. Mistakes are made though, hope the fella regains full use again Damien

You're best bet is to shop about, give you chance to have a new head gasket and timing belt fitted too. I'd do it myself, but unless you're the technical type i'd take it to a specialist. Damien
-
Pretty much a bolt in job, why don't you just get the head recon'd instead?? Damien

Thanks japcarmaniac:D I've made my decision hehe Damien

White is a bitch to keep clean, and it doesn't look that good with the white paint, just looks boring. Just want something that looks good but doesn't look stupid. Damien
