  1. im sure if its just the fcon it will only be the big box and the gcc ( bit with the wee screws on it ) is sometimes solt seprerate so just make sure u know what your getting mate.
  2. proper old classics are best kept standard and mint because as u say its difficult to find a standard mint condition old car
  3. why would ya think ya needed to take the turbo off lol or did you mean the cat off. its not an unheard of problem. my turbo ones all worked there waye loose once after i tightened them proper and they are toyota ones. tightened them as tight as i could and i just check them every so often just to make sure. same with the ones from turbo to cat. you may think ya have iut tight but because it can be hard to get at the back ones they might not be as tight as you think.
  4. just watchin wheeler dealers and this fits in well. looks amazing mate.
  5. haha that it ? nice one mate. another reason to get rid of the top mount. easier to see stuff like that glad it wasnt the expensive problem you thought it was
  6. im not arguing mate but i stood there while i had a compression test done and i cant remember what it showed but across all 4 there wasnt much difference and when i took my piston out it looked like this and i cant rmember who it was i think it was rory ( dont quote me on that ) that said ringlands dont allways show up in a compression test
  7. that sucks man. always happens at the worst time
  8. yeh mate i thought the same. cars are weird sometimes. like even tho my piston ring was in lots of little bits and the ringland was seperate from the piston theres no damage to the bores on the block. even a mechanic i asked doubted it was the rings
  9. show people some pics of the oil comin out and stuff then trusted there diagnosis and build another bottom end and swapped them over one day. took 2 pistons out and started to doubt it but the 3rd one was in bits
  10. i think there would have been some if it was dynoes but i couldnt tell with mine mate. have your car running and open the oil filler cap and put your hand over it. it it gets slightly spotted then i think thats normal if it goes all over your t shirt and covers your hand and gets on your wing then ya have a problem but i doubt thats an accurate test
  11. just a heads up tho mate when my ringland and ring were gone a compression test still didnt show it. showed that one cylinder was a couple psi lower and that was it so dont always relly on the compression test. also my car felt fine performance wise.
  12. well you will have your catch can connected up right tho. mine was basically acting as a breather and lots of oil comin out of there. i even had a compression test on mine and it showed slightly low on 1 but that was it and when i took out the piston it was in bits. theres pics in my build thread somewhere.
  13. if ya didnt have a top mount would be easier to tell lol but it may be coming from the other breather. thats what was happening to me except i had a catch can instead of a breather filter so it just kept filling that with oil. sorry to say that in my case is was a knackered piston ring and ringland. im not being one of them people that tells ya that jumps straight to the worst thing , just saying thats what it was on mine
  14. if ya go on ebaumsworld thers soooo many albums of the demotivational stuff. i got to about 30 odd before i started loosin what ones id seen lol
  15. this is 100 percent identical to my mates civic( not the guy that keeps changin his mind ) got a different inlet mani put on and it sits at about 2k or above and goes up and down when should be idling. same situation. garages have looked I've been round and swapped the whole throttle body and some sensors and nothing so if ya ever find out the problem mate send me a pm or somethin. if someone with an n/a would be nice enough the could fiddle abotu swapping stuff on a working car to see if they could get it to go the same way and then ya would know how to fix it.
  16. ye could have been that because it is slightly warm still. i might try that aswell was gonna say it had a new one but thats the n/a that got a new one. ye could have been that because it is slightly warm still. i might try that aswell was gonna say it had a new one but thats the n/a that got a new one.
  17. sump was sealed good n proper n ill take the top timing cover off n see what i can see. cars are really doing my head in at the moment. went to check my mums plugs in her fiesta as it was runnin like a kagaroo and as i go to undo the second one it just snaps clean off with hardly any effort.
  18. cars been leakin since i put the new bottom end on. thought it was the oil return so boguth a braided on but its not that thought it might be the oil filter but tightened that. now after more looking around there seems to be quite alot on the timing cover at the same height as the oil filter . im left thinking it must be the oil pump but i used a new seal and crankseal aswell and went round the edge with a bit of sealer so is it possible for it to be knackered and be coming out where the pullet bit goes onto the pump. this has put me off my car a bit as im tired of having to constantly f
  19. thats crap news. hope ya gettin it sorted. im finding it hard keepin faith at the mo also ;)
  20. hey pogs aint old. im only 21 and remember havin the metre long tube of them. tazoz were cool because ya could join emand i prefered yu-gi-oh cards to pokemon. that was last months lol jk
  21. basically get a rolla mani which takes only a bit to fit. to secure the throttle cable i used 2 big washers and 2 bolts and it worked fine. not hard and i ran 87 .5 on the dyno on a really hot day with that and a decat with a shit airfilter. get one of those, a decat and a decent panel filter and ya should see the good side of 90 and if ya find an exhaust mani might help too
  22. its just a single wire and it should have a kindof spade connecter onto the end of it.
