Getting carried away with weight loss

Good things come to those who wait, while off yet. Forget to mention lightweight pulleys Mark, p/steering, alternator, waterpump, crank etc.. Thanks, T -
Coming along nicely ;) T

That's the ticket, anything porus like a sponge is fine as it will restrict yet still allow air flow. Adjusting the actuator or MBC won't help as the turbo can't physically expel the pressure. I would imagine if you dis-connected the actuator arm so that the w/gate flap was loose, thus allowing all the pressure to be expelled (no boost) it will still boost as it's coming in faster than it's leaving. Getting carried away with weight loss

Looking good Mark, nice to see it all documented. Your on the right lines, the loom can be a real pain when you come to start the car. I went a little overboard on a loom last year and couldn't get the car to start. As long as your careful then you should be okay. Personally we couldn't loose the heaters, we've run without a dash before and it causes big misting problems with our sparadic weather, not ideal when your on the track. We used a portable heater in the car but even that wasn't enough, not to mention how cold it can get in those early/late summer months. Were now using the dash and -
A MBC may not help in this case. In essence there are no restrictions now and the filter is very close to the turbo. In laymen terms the turbo can't expel the gases at the rate in which there entering. Imagine pouring water into a glass with a hole at the bottom, the water will exit out the hole and the flow rate of this water exiting will be dictated by the size of the hole. If you start pouring water in faster than it can exit then the glass will overfolw, this is like boost creep. You can either port the wastegate to allow more gases to be expelled or you can reduce the amount going in by

If your looking for an upgrade then it's wise to consider shocks as well. Lowering springs will put a lot of strain on old worn oem shocks. The spring rates are also unmatched meaning she won't handle well and ride quality will be poor. Lowering springs are okay as a cheap fix but most will end up buying shocks in the long run. Something like the Koni Adjustables with Whiteline or Tein springs is a good match as there quite similar. After this your best bet is either a s/hand set of coilovers from yahoo auctions or a new set. We also sell KYB shock absorbers but these are stock replacements s

Hi mate, I can have a good look on yahoo for you if needed, I'll also see if JAM have any surplus stock. Give me a few days and I'll see what I can do. Don't mind doing a discount on a HKS actuator if you need as these are adjustable. Best Regards, Toby

Hi J, Sorry for the late reply we thought the forum was down. Any how we don't currently sell the defi lineup but we will be doing soon, I will see if I can locate one. Do you need the actual sensor or just the lead as they will proabably be split up. Can you also send me the part number of the gauge so that I can narrow it down. Best Regards, Toby
-
Hi Jason, Shouldn't be an issue. I'll have a word with our suppliers tomorrow and see what we can do. We've imported quite a few similar parts for a member on here so I can't see it being a problem. Send me a pm when you can and if you have any questions don't hesitate to ask. Best Regards, Toby

Hi Andrew, We don't sell the Apexi one specifically but we can enquire. We do sell the Greddy and Blitz harnesses which will also work just the same for your turbo timer. Send me a PM with your Starlet model and year and I'll let you know which we can supply and at what price. Most of the harnesses are around the £15.00 mark. Best Regards, Toby

Hey mate, Sorry didn't realise it was you. As soon as the payment shows I'll get everything dispatched. With regards to the pump you don't need to drop the tank. You can access the old one under the rear seats as mentioned. Remove the plastic cover, dis-connect the fuel lines and lift the the whole assembly out. Replace the pump with the walbro unit and return as normal. They come with instructions but if you get stuck then let me know ;) No smoking as well Regards, Toby
