it was Ukteck, weekend after devteck. Where abouts you from mate?
-
Yea mate, dont mix anything though. Saw a white N/A at a party in winchester a month or so back. That you by any chance.
-
Ah my bad, i think i see what you mean. i would have thought your going to need to get another bit of pipe to mate it to the center section. the pipe going into the standard back box is at the top of the silencer rather than at the bottom were the tip is placed. but best thing you can do is get under there and have a look. i hope that makes sence and helps.
-
If the back box is made for a V then i wouldnt have thought so. If its a custom jobby and it doesnt line up, you might be able bend / adjust the hangers on the back box to adjust the possitioning flush with bumper.

As far as i can see (looked at pictures on google images ) the 5EFE uses the same intake manifold as the uk spec 4EFE. if so then yes, the corrola manifold will be an improvment of the standard 5E mani.
-
FTE intake and TB gives the best gains imo. will need TPS (trottle possition sensor) to suit FTE TB.
-
Awesome! thanks

Would have thought so if you can still retain the 4e ecu. im considering this swap too, but in no rush as my 4e is still strong. i beilive Joz on hear has done the 5e swap, maybe ask some advice from him. Need a custom exhaust too, i have a 5e obx and needed a custom center section as the obx sits lower that std 4e
-
The 4EFTE has a higher rev limit (7200) and has stiffer valve spring to acomidate the higher limit, pretty sure there are no differences in on 4e and 5e N/A head componants.
-
As above, OBX manai for the 5e, will need a custom center section to mate with. youll have to either get one second hand, they pop up every now and again, or buy new and get it imported from america.

can you just adjust the cable next to the handbrake lever ? take of the plastic cover and then tighten the 10mm nut. im thinking of a gt handbrake but cable should be same surely.

Yea, ill make a trip over the river. ;) What date is everyone thinking?
-
Ah shit dude! chin up though have you thought about an apprentiship? Get payed to earn quilifications and specialise in a skill. most companies garantee you a job at the end of it.
-
yea the 4efte inlet mani can be used, i havnt had the corolla manifold on to compare but the FTE gives a nice gain. you can use the throttle body of the FTE to get a further gain but you need the 3 pin throttle possition sensor from the FTE to fit.
-
spent some the afternoon researching into this ;) . http://www.toyotagtturbo.com/forums/showth...TE-vs-4EFE-Head the info towards the bottom of the page 1 and 2 could help. theres something about a water jacket that needs to be covered with a gasket between the inlet mani and the head. seems like a straight swap other than that.
-
as already posted above, FTE inlet mani and TB. and strip out as much wieght possible.

What exhaust setup have you got on your ep91 n/a
LukeH replied to raffa_mk's topic in Intake, Turbo & Exhaust
I got my complete system installed a couple weeks ago, it consist of: 5E OBX manifold 2" custom mid section with cat back and silencer (would of had decat but MOT is soon) and at the back a 2.5" tailpipe (too loud imo) Since putting it on there has been a shit load more low down torque. mid range and top end power doesnt seem to feel much of a gain. this is more than likley due to running a standard 4e TB on the FTE inlet mani. i have to get the FTE TPS to be able to instal the TB. By the sound of the above a Decat does make a fair difference, but like you i have a MOT coming up so it w -
Haha, fair play. i was at a different corner and missed that.
-
Yea the ICV is on the drivers side of the mani. When i was replacing the ICV on my old Gt it diddnt make much difference when it was unplugged. was still fucked. lol Would be good to know the answer to this as one of the things stopping me putting on my fte TB on th N/A is the different placment and size of the ICV.
-
Made an attempt at fitting the FTE Mani and trottle body last night. struggled with the TPS sensor as butterfly shaft is different . how do i get round this? I put the FTE mani on with STD small TB and there is still a noticable difference. mid range and top end power has a deffiently increase. revs quicker. kept finding myself boucing of the limiter. looking forward to the TB to go on now.

if you dont try anything, you'll never learn. i split my c.v boot last week and struggled to get the cv off the drivesaft. in the end i ended up buying another c.v. boot that comes split that you glue together. after fanning about with that, now if i needed to change my cv i think i would just take it to a garage to save alot of agro. not saying it cant be done by yourself though.
