Cheers guys. No I sold the white one. The white one wasn't as clean it was only for messing in really. The white one had a great diff etc for road painting lol the red over black is just bog standard factory condition... Standard air box, standard exhaust, standard one way diff etc etc it won't be faulted. Lot of dollars put into it though. I'm quickly learning that twin cams are far from cheap!

Would removing the power steering help against torque steer?
Browner replied to Browner's topic in Alignment & Alloys
383bhp with no diff lol are you mad Not running a helical diff mate I have a TRD 1.5 way mechanical plate type diff -
Has anyone removed the power steering in their starlet? I was thinking of getting a non power steering rack and removing the power steering altogether. I was in a friends GT which was running well over 300bhp and it seemed to hold a better line on boost with the power steering removed. My own Glanza is running 383bhp but when I drive it hard on boost the torque steer can be quite bad at times. Then again, these are front wheel drive cars with huge power running through where the steering is so maybe it's just part and parcel of a high powered starlet. Any opinions on this? Browner

Has anyone ever got a manifold ceramic coated?
Browner replied to Browner's topic in Intake, Turbo & Exhaust
I couldn't really see it doing much damage to a well made manifold but you never know I suppose. I just hate having a spotless engine bay and a rusty exhaust manifold it just doesn't look right lol. My manifold is mild steel by the way -
As above guys. I painted my WEPR exhaust manifold with high temp black around a year and a half ago but in the last few months it has started to rust and flake. I was told to get the manifold ceramic coated. Apparently it will withstand very high temperatures and not flake off, also the properties of the ceramic are supposed to run the manifold cooler than normal. Can anyone shed any light on this? Thanks Browner

I have a good VF30 here mate
-
Perfect no problem mate enjoy the new setup

Correct Iddy but as far as I can research that is the highest bhp that 5e PEC rods have been tested to. At the time I was building I checked the official ratings of the rods and they were quite lower than that but yes they are holding 383bhp fine at the moment I will soon be testing them to a lot more bhp when I bring the car to England so watch this space ;)
-
I have almost all of the above pal
-
All forged rods and pistons should easily cope with 280bhp once set up correctly. if it was me I would choose Pauter or Scat rods as they have been tested to big power figures and dished Wiseco pistons
