  1. Head gasket job would only cost replacement parts if you were to do it yourself its not difficult hardest part it torqueing the head and setting the timing. If you get the car for a good price then why not. Id try and get about 500 off the asking price if they havent already taken it into consideration. And it could still always just be a daft leak somwhere. As said before check the oil cap and the dipstick as he could be on the ball and easily clean the cap. Run the car to temp and look underneath for drips. Theres a million things it could be and a million things you can do and check over. Check these main areas and get it for the right price. After all worst case scenario is that it need an engine which isnt really the end of the world.
  2. I use mobil 1 10w-40 semi synth. Probably the best on the market. People will say fully synth but they should only be used on a forged engine these are old engines and fully synth is too thin. You will get plenty of opinions to follow im just speaking from experience from working on different engines.
  3. Is there anything else wierd happening like you radio resetting or yor clock? Check the dome fuse under the bonnet.
  4. Seriously?? you not got a phone or an internet connection to that matter?
  5. Are the wheels 15's? How much you after for them pm me ;)
  6. Aye mate think he meant 24 miles per tank rather than gallon lol. Good for some mwi weekends though.
  7. I quite like a set of those but opted to go for the custom ones from monster the cost me my right arm and left leg.
  8. Yes driving in cold temps will make you more likely to hit fuel cut as will having a faulty thermostat that allows your engine to run cool.
  9. Do these Count? http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/TOYOTA-GLANZA-TURBO-ORIGINAL-CAR-MATTS-STARLET-VERY-RARE-/150885130509?pt=UK_CarsParts_Vehicles_CarParts_SM&hash=item232174610d
  10. http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/Toyota-starlet-gt-turbo-front-discs-and-pads-/180960287197?pt=UK_CarsParts_Vehicles_CarParts_SM&hash=item2a2212d9dd Think Glanza and GT front discs are the same size but might be worth having someone confirm it.
  11. ok well just an option tbh ud be quicker with the copper ones as youd get it today and they are easier to fit as there more flexible. Pluss if u get a 2nd hand 1 it will be corroded and the end might be on the verge of chewing. Just some things to look out for pal.
  12. Ive got manifold, de cat, standard TMIC and running no airfilter with the a/c removed and mine only get 0.6 bar to just under 0.7bar of boost. Good chance if your still using a standard actuator that you wont get it because the spring will be fucked.
  13. The wire coming down your steering column that has 12v when sidelights are on and 0v when they are off. You can put your live and earth to the cig lighter and signal to the sensor ofcourse. Yeah sidelight feed is green or green black like broony said its one of the chunkier wires in tht plug just test it with a multimeter and make sure u test it with the indicators on I made that mistake and my indiglo dials were flashing when i turned right haha.
  14. Fair enough buddy but it makes no difference with brake pipes if they are aftermarket its like changing your window wipers and saying you only want toyota ones lol.
  15. Go to your local garage and they should be able to make you up a copper brake pipe for around 10-20 pounds depending on how much they wanna rip you off ;)
  16. Aye mate bang on straight out he wrapper so cheers for that pal jus needto wait till i get my turbo back so that i can get it on her and get some real power. Shaun u jus completely track slaggin her then aye?
  17. Crank seal is the kinda job most garages should do its pretty similar on all cars just go to your local reputable garage mate.
  18. Right so wire the 12v to the back of the cig lighter and the dimmer wire to the sidelight switch wire behind the steering wheel cowling.
  19. your getting confused with anti lag i think mate
  20. Has that bonnet been "bad boy'd"? Any pics straight on wondering what its like on starlets?
  21. Hed have got away if he had a nissan gt-r and not a fat audi. Morale of the story always buy jap
  22. Yeah im sure you can run more than that on a td04 theres loads of people on here that run td04s, i dont myself so ud be best asking someone who has tried and tested but im sure its not uncommon to run 1.4 on these but best to ask.
  23. sounds like the quiet noise is your thrust bearing. The other one could be a few things like you lsd or input shaft bearing to somthing daft like rust or a knackered cv joint. If the mechanic can be trusted then hes probly right did he have the car on ramp or just drive it? As for changing over i think you just need the box and drive shafts. It may only e 1 shaft u needa change infact im not 100%
  24. Haha what a helmet
