MANI - Preferably a ram horn but will take anything that looks decent. Not fussed about internal or external waste gate. FMIC - Any with short route piping not too big though don't want to have to cut my bumper. Payday Tuesday what you got. Cheers

Having alot of trouble with turbo setup!
StuDoc 72 replied to jordan walker's topic in Intake, Turbo & Exhaust
Dont use any paste on the system before the turbo the last thing you want is paste going through your turbo then it will shit itself. Like iddy said new steel gaskets and give all the mating faces a good rub down with emery paper get them nice and smooth. Also aswell as loc tite use spring washers helps to keep them tight and give you a bit of extra pressure on the surfaces and will last longer. -
Its hard to say mate less movement than you think is needed what exactly is wrong is the clutch not disengaging at all?
-
Did they? The supercharger was the best part about them lol.
-
Nah mate had better things to do on a Friday night than to sit on here an type out essays. As for your questions how is it as rip off? £100 an hour behave yourself those are dealership prices compared to £35 an hour clearly small bodyshop prices. Selective use of facts. As for have I prepped a whole car. No I haven't I've prepped individual panels and thats without experience and without the correct tools or a shop to work in. So I imagine with years of experience and pneumatic tools that aye that would be managed. As I said plug in computer to tell them whats wrong your just embar

Even mini cooper S's aren't turbos their supercharged lol. Thats just me being a prick lol. Aye you get some helmets mate Ive heard so much like tht people who get new tyres in the summer when its bone dry n say there so much better than the bald 1s they had on before......then you need to sit and explain how bald tyres are better in the dry. It gets draining.

Fastest Auto at Japfest in 2005????
StuDoc 72 replied to Ep'd's topic in eBay, BidJDM, Yahoo Auction Finds
I struggle to believe this would be very fast in todays terms going by that efi pipe its still standard ct9. Looks like the whole car has seen better days. -
I would normally take the shaft out the hub dont get me wrong. There was a reason i didnt do it on the starlet though. might have been a 34mm nut or a deep socket may have been needed which I think is more likel both of which though i didnt have so the shaft just stayed in the hub.
-
Did you just sell 2 on ebay there by any chance Josh haha.
-
Alloys are normally worth £25 a wheel to a scrappy. Either that or split the wheel and tyres scrap the wheels and re sell the tyres. Toyo proxys tr1 for £40 on ebay or 2 for £75 which is nothing to turn your nose up at at all.

They are sunny's lol it wasn't a suggestion.

SUNNY'SSSSS Unlucky pal lol maybe you can get your money back on the alloys though!

No nothing mate other than they are exceptionally awkward to get back on. Make sure you grease up the selector fork where it pivots on the ball as it will squeek if you dont. That tutorial makes no sense as he drains the oil and then leaves the CV's in the gearbox. If you left them in there would be no need to drain the oil. I'm trying to think but apart from that taking it out and putting it together is easy as hell its just getting the box to slide back on thats a nightmare on these for some reason.

The price they charge does not reflect the work they do either. Painting requires a substantially less amount of training/qualifications than becoming a mechanic its also not technically difficult. In the case of spraying practice is the only way to become good there is very little theory other than learning which paints and primer to use on surfaces. Yet they still charge significantly more than a mechanic or even a painter of any other sorts tbf. I garuntee if some 1 with a tatty glanza got a quote and had the work done and was charged £1500 for his and then I took mine in for the sa

You dont need to undo the pipe going to the slave cylinder that will just mean having to refill it with brake fluid at further cost and needless effort it can be done at a later date if necessary. Undo the main nut on the balljoint rather than the other 3 its easier that way. No you dont needto undo the cv joints. when u split the ball joint you can pull the whole shaft out the gearbox while its still through the hub. (least work neccessary). Its basically just a case of removing whatever holds the gearbox to the car/engine and pulling it out. BUT if you are doing it on the gro

They use pnuematic tools aswell plus have experience which will make it even quicker. I know what you mean by any repairs but if you have an immaculate car you just want rubbed down and painted they still try and bend you over.
-
As far as the going rate goes it may be a fair price. BUT painting a car is 1 of the biggest rip off proffessions going for the amount of work actually involved. I could strip a starlet down for painting in 2 hours probably so you think they spend 15 hours on prep? I highly doubt it.
-
Aye if hes stripping it back to the hills then fair doos. Id also be wanting him to sand it right back to almost metal for that price tbh. I would expect nothing other than absolute perfection at the cost along with a warranty. Paint costs about £50 so thats £1450 labour so well over 20 hours. Which is way more than enough in a body shop to strip sand paint and cook. Also does he have an oven then?

Im pretty sure at the front of the engine on the top of the block next to the gear box theres a bit of the block that sticks out underneath the head that has the engine code printed on it. Im not 100% but I have a vague memory of this.
-
£1500 my fucking days!!!! I should hope its good quality at that price. Fair if its a big car but a starlet it half a car. I had mine resprayed cost me £550 fair enough you get what you pay for but its still a not bad job im just very pernickaty and want it perfect so shopping about but its fine as it is just now.
