  1. They may only appear as thumbnails though
  2. Exactly the same as taggy's, inlet side. Same circumstances too, high revs + heavy load. Ill try the photo bucket app...
  3. Just stripped the engine down while Sam is taking his engine out and I can confirm that the pistons have indeed melted. Extreme coincidence after taggy's as well? Hmmm Not impressed. Ill upload photos of them in the bores and once I have them out. The piston rings are CLEARLY visible. Not quite right somehow...
  4. It was original rods pistons and crank. Yeah they are getting tired I suppose. But if it has melted it will be a different story. Ill post pics of the damage soon as I take them
  5. Tuning developments. As said above though I'm not blaming anyone. I don't want people to think this thread or anything said in it is aimed at them.
  6. It was mapped on the 16th of February. Since then the bottom end has gone and this has happened. Not pointing fingers, but the reason I paid to have it mapped was to avoid things like this happening...
  7. Oh I see. Yeah will be interesting to find out. It's either ran lean or the static timing was out most likely. The injector could've packed up I suppose. Soon as the new engine is in I'm booking in with will hinchcliffe at RDT (the guys whos mapped rob h's sr turbo) for him to map it. I would trust will to map anything. It probably won't make as much peak power but I'm confident that it will be running spot on.
  8. Gut feeling is that it's melted the piston or cracked it in two. I don't think it's just ringland damaged as it wasn't smoking as bad as you'd think but there was vacuum in the breather on the rocker cover, and it had sprayed the underside of the bonnet in oil. Ill know today as soon as the engine is out ill take it apart while sam puts the other one in. Will be very coincidental if it has melted like taggy's did...
  9. Lol I would've made the meet just to make a point but realised just after I posted about it that I'm busy Sunday morning, but could still come across for the afternoon. Wouldn't mind popping it on the dyno with the new engine to check all is well. We will see. It won't win this one lol.
  10. Lol just got it back to lock up and done a compression test, with an outstanding result of 0psi on number 4. I wouldn't sell it unless it blows another engine anytime soon. Or if you want to make me a good offere? Haha
  11. He's kindly offered me his engine, he's swapping it in tomorrow. Luckily we do have a few spare engines but none are built up yet.
  12. So there we were on a drive out to the seaside when Sam decides to race an xk8 in my car. I was being nice letting him drive it for the first time since the cage went in to see what he thought. About 110mph and my car was still doing well! Then whoops, there goes number 4 piston. Just being recovered now. Who wants to buy a gt advance?
