  1. Nah, I work in the town centre and there's no parking at the office so I use Strykers and walk up.
  2. Fairly sure you can drive it to a proper garage for repair work as needed to get it past an MOT. Can't drive it down to your mate's to fix it on his driveway though.
  3. I was going to say it might have been me. But mine doesn't smoke and I definately didn't flash at anyone!
  4. You have to stick a relay into the wiring for it so that the doors don't pop open again once the engine shuts off, but it does negate the Thatcham rating. Don't ask me where the relay goes though!!
  5. 12v into passenger side with nothing cmoing out - 1 shot ballast. Replaced. 0.28v into drivers side. Replaced the ballast to be sure. Missed a tiny break in the wire several time before I found it. 2 new bulbs, 2 new ballasts, £120 and 5 hours later I have 2 working headlights again!
  6. This is why I hate electrics! HID conversion for low beam (side lights and full beam are standard halogen). Passenger side bulb had been a bit iffy over the past few weeks and worked when it wanted to, which I just put down to a dubious connection somewhere along the line. Eventually it gave up and I assumed the bulb had gone. The drivers side then followed suit at the weekend, so I replaced the pair tonight with identical bulbs (H3/9005 6000K - http://www.hids4u.co.uk/Replacement-...sion-Kits.html) Anyway, neither light up. Continuity tester showed some life in the passenger side, but noth
  7. I got one from the forums (either this one or TGTT, can't remember!) off someone who was breaking a car.. £30 delivered.
  8. They were just starting up when I kinda left the polo scene by way of an Audi A3. Not heard anything bad about them though
  9. Owned 3 (mk3 1ltr, mk3 GT, mk6 TDi Sport). Never had an issue with any of them. Rock on. Also have a look at club-polo.co.uk and uk-polos.net Loads of die hard enthusiats and some good information to be had
  10. I was probably wearing a red jacket as well to be fair... that's me!
  11. Look harder! I'm drive through Chellaston/Allenton/Shelton Lock and Pride Park most days!
  12. IIRC imported cars only need to pass basic idle as there's no specific value given for fast idle in the MOT handbook = no cat required.
  13. Might have been me. No harnesses though. Rocking a steelie on the front drivers side, 2 tone OZ f1's on the other three?
  14. Not from the Starlet. Just from uni! (I graduated 2 years ago...) That's a lie, I still owe £100 from a clutch change.
  15. 200 miles in the GTT on summer tyres and I didn't get stuck once. Bam. Even cruised past some knob jockey in a dis-astra who was slithering about at the bottom of a hill in 3 inches of snow on Friday night. His face was priceless...
  16. Postcode, smostcode! Just follow signs for Pride Park/The Wyvern!
  17. I got followed through Brighton for about half a mile (whilst they ran checks with the ANPR I assume) then they pulled off... I must be doing something wrong because I've never been pulled :-s
  18. Dibs on the driver's side window mechanism if you've still got it and it's complete?! Mine packed up last night - coldest drive home ever!
  19. Jeeeeeeze! What did she do? Pinball off the barriers? It's not just standing water that fucks shit up though, wet white lines are like freaking ice this time of year as well - Resulted in me going backwards down the wrong side of a b-road at 60/70 mph the other day. No warning, the back just swung round on a big sweeping curve... Watch yourselves boys and girls!
