  1. Hi. I've posted a reply in your wanted post. You may have to keep your eyes on Ebay or try a breakers search engine or Gumtree etc. But good luck with it.
  2. This chap might have one: http://www.adverts.ie/car-parts-accessories/breaking-ep70-box-starlet/1844809 Old advert, but still replying to some people in last few days asking him for parts.
  3. You're going from one of the cheapest places in the UK to the most expensive. You will notice prices being much higher big time! I've spent quite a lot of time in London over the last few years for work and personal, and I have considered living down there too as I always love London when I am there. But I think for many people I know the crazyness of the working life down there starts to grind them down, and you love being in London far more when you know you are going back to Kings X or wherever at the end of the day to catch a train and get out of the madhouse. Some observations: - You never get used to the general grime and dirt that you pick up whilst just going about your business (blow your nose and it's like black sh*t coming out!). - People in London are far friendlier than many people would have you believe. Certainly I find myself in conversations with far more stangers when I'm down there in a few hours than I ever would in days where I actually live. - Driving in central London is nearly pointless. You won't go very far very quickly and central London pricing is designed to keep poor people off the road so as to allow the rich in their nice motors more space. I would say be careful in East London as thats where most of the stabbings take place, but if you are from NI it's probably handbags at dawn compared to what you are used to Good luck mate.
  4. Yeah I am going to do that of course, but I like to go back to them with some heads up on the issue so they don't fob me off. In this instance the parts were supplied by me, so they don't have the same obligation to sort as if the garage supplied and fitted. Some local garages said they would not even do the job unless they did supply parts due to situations like this (+ it's a nice earner for them I guess).
  5. I had all the installation work done by a garage mate, but I bought the KYB protection kits if that's what you mean? Don't notice any skipping tbh.
  6. Not rears according to the KYB part catalogue, and also they confirmed that with an email.
  7. I had OEM replacement KYB suspension shocks, springs and front top mounts fitted recently. This has actually lifted the car by 10mm or so over old factory standard, but now when slowing up to park the car and turning the wheel close to full lock I hear clunks or / spring twangs. They seem to come from front and back but mostly passenger side. Could it be the increased height? The front wheel was checked and adjusted at the same time. I'm not sure if they are catching on something as it is only whem turning wheel almost max that sounds occur - never hear once you are underway, I thought it might also be something to do with springs moving in the old rear mounts which were not replaced (KYB do not make replacement rear top mounts). Any thoughts appreciated as it's doing my head in. I thought new OEM replacement suspension would cure all issues! Cheers.
  8. If it's got dealer or BMW independent specialist history then a bargain awaits someone. Have you tried putting it up on BMWLand forum? You have to pay £10 for that, but I'm sure it would sell on there. I can't say anything better than the BMW 3L straight 6 is one of the all-time great powerplants. Still miss my 130i..... Good luck with the sale.
  9. The characters look slightly anaemic or see-through. It's like there is not much power being fed to it to make it as bright as it once once. I noticed it after I got the car back from a service. It was only a basic oil service, although it seems the car is running very lean now. Not sure if that would make any difference? It's not a big deal, bit i'm curious why it's gone like it. Any ideas? Cheers.
  10. I had a Mk5 GTI a few years after they came out. Beautiful quality (especially the BBS wheels), but strangely pretty dull to drive. Chassis is poor, and although in a straight line it was quick enough over the real rough stuff it was almost impossible to drive it with any real speed. I was told by a Honda works engineer that VW did not do much work on the chassis over & above the standard one. Evo mag were not impressed and gave it 3 stars for the same reason. Pedal box issue forced a VW recall, and yes the gearboxes failed early - German owners got them replaced free, UK owners got (if VW pestered enough) a token £700-£800 contribution toward a new box. One other thing is that you could not easily adjust the line into or exiting corners using the accelarator. That pedal always felt pretty disconnected to what was actually happening to the car. Very disappointed with it ultimately, and was my last VW having been a die-hard up to then. I sold it after 8 months for a £3k loss and got a EP3 Civic R. I've always felt that the Polo GTI should be the ultimate hot hatch what with VW build quality et al, but VW have never nailed it with a hot Polo since the G40. Talking of which I am seriously tempted with this: http://www.4starclassics.com/VW-Polo-G40-For-Sale/
  11. I could & probably would fill up a section like this myself.
  12. Hi Amanda. Welcome. I posted a link to your blog on a thread about the Starlet 1973 magazine. I hope you got some traffic to your own excellent KP60 site. Daran.
  13. Postie delivered my copy today from Japan. It's fab It's a proper high quality 112 page colour magazine / book featuring high res scans of all the Toyota JDM brochures for generations 1 thorugh 5. Really interesting to see all the different models over the years. My favourites looking through it are the 3rd Gen Turbo S / R / Si Ltd - Starlet coming of age from this point me thinks. All the text is in Japanese, and book reads back to front compared to what we are used to of course. Company that publishes it also do similar for all other Jap car series. Here is the ebay link: http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=360664041718#ht_1690wt_934 And here is a blog of someone who has also bought a copy whilst in Japan and posted scans of the pages: http://amandaae86.wordpress.com/2012/02/29/kp-starlet-happy-choice-%e3%83%8f%e3%83%83%e3%83%94%e3%83%bc%e3%83%81%e3%83%a7%e3%82%a4%e3%82%b9/
  14. so dry and matter of fact it made me laugh.
  15. Interesting stuff, one scan is for Starlet and some for it's predecessor the Publica. Plus the pretty cool 2000GT which I read now fetches a sh*t load at auction (check out the wood trim!) http://my.reset.jp/~inu/ProductsDataBase/Products/TOYOTA/
  16. Maybe it's me. So what forum sub-section do you post about mechanical faults if you don't know what the fault is?
  17. I think it would be good to have a section in the td area for issues that people are not sure about. For example I have a grating / chaffing sound coming from somewhere for the first few meters after I set off but then sound goes away. I have no idea if it's engine, gearbox, suspension or whatever. So I'm not not sure which section to post in. An unknown / mystery techie problem bit would be good as a catch all for all those issues people don't know where the problem lies. What do you think?
  18. Silly question maybe, but 50 days after order was placed (alledgedly) with DGR has anyone actually got their coilovers out of him? A couple of folks said they were not going to put in refund claims and wait.
  19. Well I've come home to good news! I've got a Paypal confirmation that my coilover claim is resolved; obviously settled in my favour, but then I suspect that any claim against Tara's Paypal is automatically going to be settled up as long as it's in 45 days (and not a gift). Glad I'm sorted, but still sorry for those left without. A sorry tale all round. Lesson learned though, never again...... I'm going to play safe and go to my local motor factors tomorrow and order in a complete set of KYB suspension parts.
  20. This 'don't have the funds right now to get them released from customs' sounds like a convenient excuse now for everything. A few posts ago someone said that as they were going to have one of the sets of coilovers left over from those putting in Paypal claims, meaning James would have the customs money to release them! There is no consistency with any of the information that is coming out from him. I don't know exactly how long customs will keep something before they auction it off, but I don't think they will keep a ton of containers for CJP at the docks for long. Giving him the benefit of the doubt; if all this is true, then it could have been avoided if he'd simply let people know what was going on. That way Paypal claims would not have gone in.
  21. I'm pretty sure I'm out... £175 was about my limit. At that price you must be +/- £100 off getting a stainless steel straight OEM replacement made up?
  22. Agreed, maybe more than that. I mean how many were in the coilover gb? He did not not post a final list. And then there is the other items.
  23. Yes it's red. Seen it before?
  24. Would be great for a standard UK Starlet (not very cool for SR or JDM though). Not sure how many they have left, but at £77 a wheel it's a great price. Burrows Toyota dealer (formely Pentagon Sheffield) on Ebay have got them up at £120 each. http://www.thetoyotashop.co.uk/product/Starlet_Alloy_wheel,_PZ423-P0672-ZE_TPZ423-P0672-ZE
