The numbers you get when compression testing are higher than what you state due to all kinds of real world factors like heat valve opening and closing times etc. Not important in your case.

Selecting the right shim is really as easy as you said and as the text you have circled yellow in your previous post.

First step is to measure the gap

2nd is identify the existing shims thickness

3rd do the math to figure out new shim's thickness considering 0,2 gap on intake and 0,3mm on exhaust side.

I had a very hard time getting hold of all the shims when i built mine due to oversized valves and seats and the extensive head work. So i had a file made with all the part numbers and sizes. They are quite pricy if you manage to get them form TOYOTA so try to mix and match the ones you already have as much as possible  in order to order as few as possible. Plus i had to call literally every dealer in the country to find them all so this might be a difficulty for you as well.

Its really that easy though no need to worry about it. Its just a little time consuming.

Thank you for sharing. We had to switch a few shims that were out of parameters. Engine seems to be running OK now.

The problem now is that the timing procedure is reacting upside down. Setting +10 on diagnostic mode isn’t going to zero when unplugging diagnostics. I really don’t know why the electronics are acting like that but it definitely isn’t a mechanical issue because we did everything right. We already pulled down the camshaft 3 Times ever since I had to send out the cylinder head for welding. The distributor is very simple to fit and we haven’t touched anything that could compromise it’ from functioning properly. Setting timing to +10 on diagnostics brings it up to +15 when unplugging diagnostics. what is happening?

@Claymore

i’m trying to figure out how to get the Glanza V AC motor work with the Corolla AC computer. The Corolla AC motor has more wire that should control the activation of the main fan as support when external temperature in high. The other function should be the switch off of the motor at high revs.

i am trying to make it work adapting the fte motor loom in the Corolla computer. Can you help me?

Hey Frankie all I can really offer is a copy of the European 96/97 Starlet 4efe wiring diagrams from the official Toyota workshop manual. It may be different to the 98/99 models and also the wiring may be different to the Jap models (glanza)! Also the auto climate controls found in the Glanza will probably be different aswell!

For what use it is:

Heater controls

Fan / motor / relay wiring:

(Use RHD side of diagram only)

German version:

RHD only

Check if any of the wire colours match and then start tracing the wires to relays and see if they follow the same path. Compare to wires / purpose from corolla loom.

Hope it's of some use, just be careful and don't cause a fire!
